San Jose Sharks vs. Winnipeg Jets

The Sharks have been far from an apex predator and much more of a tasty treat this season for just about any team in the league. As they swim into Winnipeg, the Sharks have dropped five straight and eight of their last nine games. We should also note that six of San Jose’s eight losses have been by two goals or more.
The Jets had hit their roughest patch of the season by losing five consecutive games until their last performance when they skated away to a 7-5 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Josh Morrissey had a pair of goals and an assist to cop the No. 1 Star of the Game.
This is much more of a fade on the Sharks than a ringing endorsement of the Jets but we call them as we see them and on Monday night we see the Jets getting a taste of home cookin’ where they are an impressive 21-10-1.
This should be an easy win by the home team which is why we will eschew the big vig on the moneyline and make the books pay us the juice on the puck line.

Calgary Flames vs. Dallas Stars

The only thing the Flames are burning these days is their chance to make the playoffs. Calgary has lost its last five contests and after Monday night that number will climb to six. Over those five games, the Flames have been outscored, 17-8, due to lethargic play at both ends of the ice.
Conversely, the Stars have been playing like the top team in the Central Division that they are with dominating wins over the Coyotes, Blackhawks, and Avalanche. Over those three games, the Stars outscored their opponents 16-7. Speaking of outscoring opponents, we should also point out that Dallas has the best +/- margin in the Western Conference at +45.
Although the Flames defeated the Stars, 6-5, in their only previous meeting this season, this time the Stars will likely have their starting goalie, Jake Oettinger, tending the twine as opposed to the middling Scott Wedgewood.

Washington Capitals vs. Los Angeles Kings

This will be the third home team we back tonight and this should be an easy one for the Kings as they play much better in LA than on the road as evidenced by their 19-9-1 mark. The Kings just broke ties with their longstanding starting goalie, Jonathan Quick, who had fallen off the map this year with an 11-13-4 record, a 3.50 GAA, and a woeful .876 save percentage.
And that is good news for backup, Pheonix Copley, and those who are betting on LA tonight as he checks in with a 19-4-2 record. Copley will likely be in between the pipes on Monday night and as you can see, when he’s in the net, the Kings win.
