Carolina Hurricanes vs. Montreal Canadiens
Tuesday, March 7, 2023 – 07:00 PM EST at Bell Centre
Game Analysis
The mismatch in this game is obvious with the best team in the league, aside from the unconscious Boston Bruins, squaring up against the Atlantic Division cellar-dweller. The natural reflex would be to bury the Hurricanes in a game that they have no right to lose.
However, let’s not forget upsets happen. A case in point was Carolina’s recent 3-2 loss to the lowly Anaheim Ducks with the Canes busting bankrolls as a -500 home-ice favorite. And for those laying the 1 ½ goals on the puck line, you should know that the Habs are the best last-place team of the four and have lost their last three games by just one goal apiece.
No, this is an Under bet for me as Montreal has gone low in three of their last four while the Hurricanes have done it in five of their last seven games with one being a push. Let’s take a look at a few total trends in this one.
Trends
- Under is 8-1-1 in Hurricanes last 10 vs. Atlantic.
- Under is 4-0-1 in the Hurricanes’ last 5 games following a win.
- Under is 4-0-1 in the Hurricanes’ last 5 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Under is 8-3-2 in the last 13 meetings between these clubs in Montreal.
- Under is 10-4-1 in the Canadiens’ last 15 Tuesday games.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Florida Panthers
Tuesday, March 7, 2023 - 07:00 PM EST at FLA Live Arena
Game Analysis
Adin Hill is now the starter between the pipes for Vegas after Logan Thompson was injured a few weeks ago. In order to fill the goaltending void, the Knights acquired Jonathan Quick, the longtime LA goalie, for insurance until Thompson returns.
However, I believe Vegas is in better hands with Hill tending the twine and he has given me no reason to doubt that claim, going 5-1 and posting a 2.50 goals-against average over his six starts since Thompson has been on the trainer’s table.
The Golden Knights are getting a generous price here from the oddsmakers and I’m not sure why this early line is quite this steep. Vegas has defeated Florida in six of their last seven meetings including a 4-2 Knights victory nearly a month ago in Sin City.
Lastly, the Panthers have alternated wins and losses over their last 11 games and if the pattern holds true, Florida will be stuck with a loss after defeating the Penguins, 4-1, in their last game. We should also note that the Knights own one of the best road records in the league at 17-6-5. So grab the juice and back the road pups here.

Calgary Flames vs. Minnesota Wild
Tuesday, March 7, 2023 - 08:00 PM EST at Xcel Energy Center
Game Analysis
These teams met on Saturday and the Wild skated away to a 3-0 victory in Calgary. But now the venue has shifted and while Minnesota has had the luxury of two nights of rest and relaxation, the Flames were battling the Stars last night in Dallas.
Now let’s understand that fading a team on the second leg of back-to-backs is usually automatic, as it is in this circumstance. But when we have a very good team like the Wild, currently in second place in the Central Division, just a few points behind the first-place Dallas Stars, the moneyline is ordinarily prohibitive.
Yet, here we are, seeing the Wild laying only -134 over at BetOnline. And it’s not as though the Flames are a world-beater by any stretch, as they are currently nestled in fifth place in the Pacific and will be a long shot to make the playoffs.
Under Looking Good
We just watched Minnesota shutout the Flames, whose only impressive attribute is putting the puck on net, ranked 2nd averaging 35.6 shots per game but can’t close the deal as evidenced by their 20th-ranked offense, scoring 3.1 goals per contest.
The only caveat is the Wild’s rather anemic offense, scoring a paltry 2.8 goals per game, but they are in first place for a reason – defense. Minny is ranked 4th in goals allowed, with Filip Gustavsson enjoying a sensational season (17-8-3, 1.99 GAA, .933 save percentage) and usurping the legendary Marc-Andre Fleury as the top tender on the team.
Lastly, we should note MAF will likely be in the net for this one as Gustavsson notched the shutout in their last game and coach Dean Evason has been alternating the two to keep both fresh for the postseason. Nevertheless, the Flames should be gassed for this one and I see a low-scoring win by the home team.
Let’s double-dip and lay it on the Wild along with the Under at Minnesota betting sites.
