With five games on today’s NHL betting card, we are targeting a cross-conference matchup as the New Jersey Devils and Vegas Golden Knights clash for the first time in five weeks.

Elsewhere there’s a Canadian battle taking place as the Edmonton Oilers host the Winnipeg Jets, both teams are separated by just 2 points in the Western Conference.

New Jersey Devils vs. Vegas Golden Knights

Friday, March 3, 2023 – 10:00 PM EST at T-Mobile Arena

Devils Acquire Timo Meier

The NJ Devils have been on fire lately having won their previous three games as well as 9 of their past 12. Over those three games, they have scored an average of six goals per game, and all this without Timo Meier even having made his debut.

Meier has scored 52 points in 57 games played for the Sharks this season and will likely be playing alongside Tomas Tatar and Nico Hischier for the Devils.

The Devils ranked inside the top five in both expected goals for and against in five versus five situations in the league and can go second overall in the Eastern Conference with a win tonight should the Carolina Hurricanes lose.

Golden Knights Can Go Top of West

A win for the Vegas Golden Knights can see them go to the top of the Western Conference tonight with just one point separating themselves and first-placed Dallas. The Golden Knights might have gone 7-3 in their previous ten games and scored a point in 7 of their previous 7 on home ice.

With that said, the Golden Knights do reside in the Western Conference which is considerably less competitive than the East. Their current 78 points total would only see them sitting in seventh in the Eastern Conference while the Devils’ 85 points would see them as runaway leaders in the West.

The Pick

The previous two meetings between these teams ended 3-2 to the NJ Devils and we feel a similar scoreline could be on the cards yet again tonight.

On home ice, the Golden Knights are 22-11 to the under 6.5 goals line while the Devils are 18-11 to the same under. The previous three games between these teams ended with 5/3/5 goals when facing off at the T-Mobile Arena.

Lay the juice in this matchup for under 6.5 goals at -140 NHL odds. Both teams have a lot to play for here and won’t want to lose this one, the under is the way to go. Combined these teams only allow 5.3 goals per game.

NJ locals can bet on this NHL matchup and the one below at any of these New Jersey betting sites.

Winnipeg Jets vs. Edmonton Oilers

Friday, March 3, 2023 – 09:00 PM EST at Rogers Place

Jets on Losing Streak

It’s been a poor run of games for the Winnipeg Jets as they are now on a four-game losing streak coming into Rogers Place where the Oilers have only won 50% of their previous ten home games.

Nobody seems to want to take control and win the Western Conference as there are now just seven points separating first-placed Dallas and seventh-place Winnipeg.

The Jets have scored 3.05 goals per game this season, which is ranked as the 13th-lowest in the league compared to Edmonton’s best-ranked offense scoring 3.82 goals per game.

Oilers Making Playoff Push

The Edmonton Oilers are currently sitting inside the final playoff spot in the Pacific division and sixth in the Western Conference, although their playoff spot is not 100% secure as there are plenty of teams around and below them ready to pounce.

The Oilers have been in average form having gone 4-6 in their last 10 games but did manage to secure at least one point in 7 of their previous 10. Last time out on the ice the Oilers won a hard-fought battle against the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2.

The Pick

The Winnipeg Jets have won 48% of their games as underdogs this season and despite the Oilers clearly having a much better-attacking force right now, this Jets team is not as weak as their recent form suggests. The Jets have only allowed 2.7 goals compared to the Oilers’ 3.6 thus far this season.

At the very least we believe the Jets shouldn’t be any more than +120 in this matchup so we are more than happy to bet on the +140 moneyline that’s on offer for our NHL picks. The Jets have also had one day of extra rest compared to their opponents Edmonton ahead of this matchup.
