New York Rangers vs. Philadelphia Flyers
Wednesday, March 1, 2023 – 07:30 PM EST at Wells Fargo Center
The Rangers have had a habit this season of stringing together winning streaks followed by losing streaks and the latest example is their seven-game winning skein followed by dropping their next four games.
However, the Rangers could be getting back on track after putting a halt to their losing ways on Saturday with a convincing 5-2 victory over the Kings.
Alexis Lafreniere deposited his 11th goal of the season to draw first blood and Vincent Trocheck netted a pair in the second period to put the Blueshirts in front, 3-0, before the Kings cut the deficit to 3-2. Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad would each light the lamp in the final frame to seal the three-goal margin of victory.
The Flyers are dead last in the league on the power play and that does not bode well trying to exploit any possible advantage against a former Vezina Trophy winner like Igor Shesterkin.
We should also note the Rangers have won six of their last seven against the Flyers including two this season by scores of 1-0 (OT) and most recently, 6-3 back in December.
The Rangers also have a better record on the highway (17-7-5) than they do at home (17-10-4) so let’s lay it, and like it, with the visitors.

New Jersey Devils vs. Colorado Avalanche
Wednesday, March 1, 2023 - 09:00 PM EST at Ball Arena
This is one of three marquee matchups on Wednesday night and you have to like the way the Devils have been playing. They have won four of their last five with the most recent being an absolute whooping of the Flyers, 7-0, in New Jersey.
The Avs have also been streaking down the stretch, winning their last six games including a 3-0 win over Vegas on Monday night.
Therefore, it’s not surprising this game was essentially a coin flip according to the early lines posted by the oddsmakers when it opened but now that line has suddenly moved in favor of Colorado. Better for us, as we’re backing the road dog in this one.
The Devils are the NHL’s consummate road warriors, boasting the best record in the league, 21-4-3, when away from the Prudential Center. In the only meeting between these clubs this season, New Jersey edged the Avs, 1-0, at the end of October.
Furthermore, New Jersey has had since Saturday to prepare for this Mile High showdown while the Avalanche could be gassed after a hard-fought 3-0 win over the Knights on Monday. Once again, we will back the visitors as we did in the previous game for our NHL pick and cash a ticket!

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Vegas Golden Knights
Wednesday, March 1, 2023 - 10:00 PM EST at T-Mobile Arena
This TNT matchup will be a bit late for many viewers but West Coast hockey fans will get a front-row seat to one of the beasts in the East as the Hurricanes take on the Golden Knights in Sin City.
Speaking of which, the Canes saw their five-game winning streak snapped by the most unlikely opponent, the Anaheim Ducks, in what has to be Carolina’s most shocking loss of the season.
Last Saturday, the Hurricanes pelted Anaheim’s John Gibson with 53 shots while the Ducks could muster only 16 of their own against Carolina goalie Frederik Andersen. Nevertheless, the Ducks claimed a rather remarkable 3-2 road win and returned a healthy (+398) over at Heritage Sports despite the lopsided shot tally.
Carolina is known for getting plenty of rubber on the net and Vegas will have a tough time stopping a Canes’ offense that will be well-rested and will have had plenty of time to dwell on the shocking loss to one of the worst teams in the league.
We should also bear in mind that Carolina has won four of their last five meetings against Vegas and will keep that streak alive on Wednesday night.
