San Jose Sharks vs. Arizona Coyotes

Arizona is enduring another disappointing season and it’s always difficult to throw good money at bad teams. However, when the moon and stars align with the right matchup and the right price, sometimes you have to break the rules. And that’s precisely what I am prepared to do when the Sharks skate into Tempe tonight.
San Jose has lost 5 of their last 6 including a 4-2 setback to the Bruins on Saturday. The Sharks also struggle on the road with an 8-10-2 record while the Coyotes have fared surprisingly well at their temporary home at the Mullett Center, checking in with a 7-4-2 mark, compared to their 6-17-3 record on the highway.
Before we get too carried away, we should recognize that the Coyotes are on a five-game losing streak with their latest effort, a 4-1 loss to the Penguins on Sunday. Nevertheless, these teams are not far apart as far as cellar-dwellers go, as the Sharks enter this matchup with 32 points over 41 games while the Coyotes are right behind them with 31 points over 39 games.
There is no way the Sharks should be favored as -145 favorites over anyone, at any time, and we will watch the Coyotes protect their house as they have done fairly well this season.

Florida Panthers vs. Colorado Avalanche

The Puck Line Pick
The Panthers are on the third leg of a four-game road trip with their last stop in Dallas on Sunday afternoon resulting in a 5-1 loss. Florida has struggled mightily this season compared to the last in which they took home the President’s Trophy with a whopping 122 points.
Entering this matchup the Cats are 18-19-4 and despite averaging 35.7 shots per game placing them 2nd in that category, they score just 3.2 goals per game (16th).
On the flip side, the Avalanche has similarly failed to meet last year’s lofty expectations as they amassed 119 points in the 2021-2022 season compared to this season in which they are 20-15-3 for 43 points which equates to 93 points this year. Not bad, but 97 points was the lowest point total for a playoff team last season so the Avs will have to pick it up a notch if they are to see the postseason.
The oddsmakers are giving us plenty of juice to back the Avs on the puck line in this one and we’ll take all of it!
