Boston Bruins vs. Nashville Predators

Thursday, February 16, 2023 – 08:00 PM EST at Bridgestone Arena

Preview

The Boston Bruins are going through a cold spell right now, averaging only 2.5 goals per game having gone 2-3-1 in their previous six games. This is despite having one of the best offenses and defenses in the league with just 3.66 goals for and 2.11 goals against and as well as having the league’s best penalty-killing unit.

Having missed 16 games it's likely Jake DeBrusk will return to the Bruins lineup tonight after training with the team earlier in the week.

DeBrusk could help their struggling powerplay which has slipped down to the NHL's 7th best overall. DeBrusk has scored 5 and assisted 6 on the powerplay this season for the Boston Bruins.

The Nashville Predators remain in the playoff hunt within the Western Conference, currently trailing the Avalanche, Flames, and Wild. With that said Nashville has a few games in hand over their opponents but will need to win their additional games if they wish to make a push into a playoff position.

The Predators have scored only 2.73 goals per game this season, which is the 7th lowest in the NHL but defensively have performed much better only allowing 2.73.

The Pick

The total has gone over 5.5 in 4 of the previous 5 meetings between these two teams, and despite the Bruins being strong defensively and the Predators poor at scoring goals, we still believe this is worth betting the over 5.5 goals line at (-125).

It’s very rare we get to bet this line at such low NHL odds, both the Predators at home and Bruins on the road have seen a 14-12 record to the over 5.5 goals line.

NHL Pick: Over 5.5 (-125) at BetOnline

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Seattle Kraken

Thursday, February 16, 2023 – 10:00 PM EST at Climate Pledge Arena

Preview

The Philadelphia Flyers have now gone 3-7 over their last 10 NHL games. Sitting 14th in the Eastern Conference their season is pretty much over, the players have all but downed tools.

The Flyers have won just 11 of their 27 road games to date and are likely due to some regression tonight having beaten a much better Winnipeg Jets team 4-0 last time out on the road.

The Flyers allow 3.10 goals per game and score just 2.7. That said Carter Hart has been super for his team between the pipes in recent games, saving a whopping 96% of his shots in his previous five games.

Seattle is a team who aren’t blessed with a lot of talent, but they do know how to get a job done and have built a winning mentality around the team. Surprisingly to everybody, the Kraken are just five points shy off the top spot in the Western Conference

Despite the metrics saying the Kraken have been the better team in 7 of their previous 9 games, their overall record across that stretch of games has been 4-6. Seattle can slip into second place in the Atlantic division with a win here tonight on home ice.

These two teams met just days ago with Seattle coming away as 4-3 winners.

The Pick

The Kraken picked up their only win across their previous five games the last time these two teams met just four days ago.

We believe they have the capability to outplay their opponents yet again and come away with the victory that will send them further up the Western Conference and Pacific division.

The Kraken are the better of these two teams, and their only-ever game against the Flyers at the Climate Pledge Arena saw them suffer a 3-2 loss.

We like their chances of not losing back-to-back home games against this deflated Flyers team at (-110) NHL betting odds.
