Anaheim Ducks vs. Dallas Stars

Thursday, December 1, 2022 – 08:30 PM EST at American Airlines Center

The Ducks have lost three straight, six of their last seven, and are mired in the muck of the Pacific Division basement. As a matter of fact, they currently reside in the NHL basement with a mere 14 points through more than a quarter of the way through the season.

On the other hand, the Stars are nestled at the top of the Central Division and are coming off of a 4-1 road win over St. Louis as they return home with three days of rest under their collective belts. Dallas also owns the No. 2 scoring offense in the league, averaging 3.8 goals per game and they will be tasked with eviscerating Anaheim’s No. 32 (dead last) defense.

The Puck Line Pick

It’s a mismatch between one of the best in the league against one of the worst but what makes this an even more compelling reason to bet Dallas on the puck line in this one is that all 13 of their wins this season have been by two or more goals.

Somewhere down the road that streak will be broken but do we really believe the Ducks will be the ones to do it?

Predicted Score: Stars 5 – Ducks 1

Washington Capitals vs. Seattle Kraken

Thursday, December 1, 2022 - 10:00 PM EST at Climate Pledge Arena

The Caps skate into Seattle after watching their last five games go low including a 5-1 victory over Vancouver on Tuesday night in which the teams limboed underneath the 6 ½ posted total. Washington doesn’t do much offensively, currently ranked 25th in shots per game, averaging 30.1, while checking in at 26th in scoring, averaging 2.8 goals per contest.

Scoring will be at a premium for the Caps as the Kraken own the No. 3 ranked defense in terms of shots allowed per game (27.6) and are 14th in goals allowed (3.1 GPG).

But whether Martin Jones or Philipp Grubauer is patrolling the crease (I would lean heavily towards the latter seeing as Jones was in net for the LA Kings shootaround), they aren’t likely to see much rubber from the Washington offense.

The Over/Under Pick

The one thing the Caps do fairly well is keeping the puck out of their own net. The Washington defense is ranked 12th in goals allowed (3.0) and shots per game (31.0) while Seattle ranks 29th per game in shots (29.1).

They say you can’t score if you don’t shoot but curiously, the Kraken are ranked 3rd in scoring which is likely to decrease if their shooting production doesn’t increase.

And lastly, the point I alluded to earlier, the Kraken were involved in a 17-goal overtime thriller against the Kings just two nights ago. Seattle won the game, 9-8, but there is little doubt the entire team is still gassed which bodes well for the under in this game as the Caps don’t do much scoring and won’t be able to take advantage of this opportunity.

Let’s watch this game low and cash a ticket at Washington betting sites!

Predicted Score: Kraken 3 – Capitals 1

Florida Panthers vs. Vancouver Canucks

Thursday, December 1, 2022 - 10:00 PM EST at Rogers Arena

Every team hits a rough patch and the Panthers are going through theirs as we speak. But good teams eventually right the ship and win games, which is exactly what happens tonight as the Cats skate into Vancouver to take on the underwhelming Canucks.

In my book, as long as a team is shooting more than their opponent then they have a decent shot at winning the game. And there is no team in the league that takes more shots than the Florida Panthers, averaging 39.3 shots per game. With all of the talent on their roster, one would think they would be better than 12th in the league in scoring but here they are, averaging 3.3 goals per game.

The Moneyline Pick

The Canucks own a solid offense but their defense is among the worst, which makes a moneyline bet on the Panthers even more enticing. Vancouver is 26th in shots allowed (33.1) and 30th in goals allowed (3.8 GPG), another compelling reason to expect a big night of offensive production from Florida.

Florida’s Matthew Tkachuk can be a game-changer all by himself and I suspect he will have a big night tonight. We are getting Florida at a bargain basement price because of their recent tailspin and I will be happy to take advantage of the bookie’s largesse.

Predicted Score: Panthers 5 – Canucks 2
