Is the Eastern Conference for real? Like, we know that Tampa (spits on the floor) has dominated the conference for a few years. But this season, the top four seeds in the East are at over 50 points and it’s not the “would have been Olympics if not for Omicron” break yet.

Well, tonight we are taking a look at a couple of matchups in the Eastern Conference so let’s break down some NHL odds, shall we?

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Thursday, January 13, 2022 – 07:00 PM EST at PNC Arena

One of those top four are the Carolina Hurricanes, who play Metropolitan division rivals, the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight in Raleigh. While Carolina are ascending in the standings, they look to bounce back from a loss to the Florida Panthers in their last outing.

Prior to the loss, division-leading Carolina had a five-game winning streak featuring a 7-4 slapping around of the Blue Jackets, who have dropped four of their last five.

It’s not a good time to be a Blue Jackets fan as they are in the bottom third of the league in Goals Against per Game (3.56), Power-Play (15%), and in the Penalty Kill (77.9) departments.

Per our friends at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), the total goals is set at six tonight with the over juiced at -115. If you were to parlay that with the Hurricanes straight up ML (-240), a bet of $200 will yield you an extra $120, getting you one bet closer to that solid gold pinwheel hat.

New Jersey Devils vs. New York Islanders

Thursday, January 13, 2022 - 07:30 PM EST at UBS Arena

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to screw up not only the world we live in but the one we escape to. And while nothing will stop the socio-economic steamroller from stopping, people like Islanders coach, Barry Trotz, get sidelined due to COVID-19 Protocols.

This matters because tonight the Islanders are playing the New Jersey Devils at the UBS Arena as both teams continue to struggle in the 2021-22 season.

With Trotz out and the Islanders not having played a game since a January 1st win over Edmonton, you’d think they are the underdogs in this game.

Yet they are the favorite against the Devils who have won four of their last six, defeating common opponents Edmonton and Buffalo in that span.

With Trotz out and the Devils having more of a rhythm (despite one game against Tampa being postponed), I’d put your money on the Devils straight up at +173, per BetOnline.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Nashville Predators

Thursday, January 13, 2022 - 08:00 PM EST at Bridgestone Arena

Our final game of the day is the Western Conference-leading Nashville Predators taking on the second-best team in Buffalo sports… because there are only two… the Buffalo Sabres.

Heading into this game, Nashville is the destroyer of worlds, the eater of babies and winners of five straight, scoring more than three goals in their last nine games.

Buffalo has lost their last six and are 27th in goals against this year averaging 3.54 red lights a game. While Nashville may be stingy between the pipes as their eighth in the league in goals against, I have a wild belief that Nashville is gonna lay the law once again tonight.

So my “screw it why the hell not” best bet of the week, for our NHL picks, is over 6 goals tonight which per BetOnline is +104.

As always thanks for reading and see you here next week for more hockey.
