It is Wednesday and you know what that means… It’s time to GAMBLE ON HOCKEY! So let’s break down some NHL odds, shall we?
[NHL ON ESPN THEME INTENSIFIES]
Colorado Avalanche vs. New York Rangers
Wednesday, December 08, 2021 – 07:00 PM EST at Madison Square Garden
It feels like the hockey/gambling gods have decided to have the New York Rangers just play every Wednesday in an attempt to give me some sense of an emotional meltdown… more so than I already am.
The Rangers are in action tonight against a hard-charging Colorado Avalanche team that is 3-3 in their last six, losing Ottawa, Toronto and Dallas while getting wins over Philly, the Habs and the Predators while averaging 5.6 goals per game in their three wins.
While the Rangers are riding a seven-game winning streak before stepping onto the hallowed ice of Madison Square Garden, beating a common opponent Philadelphia in that span with an average of four goals a game.
Avalanche vs. Rangers Odds
Now, I am an unabashed Rangers fan, but I am also an honest sports fan and writer, betting on the Rangers straight up on the moneyline which according to our friends at GTbets (visit our GTbets Review) is set at +160 may just be a BIT risky (they’re riding a big winning streak and they’re at home so… you have a halfway decent shot of making some cash).
Rangers have had only one shutout so far this season and have been averaging 3.04 goals per game this season and while they’re giving up a respectable 2.46 (4th in NHL) per game, while Colorado has been averaging 4.04 goals per game and near the bottom of the league with 3.46 goals against per game in the 2021-2022 campaign.
All signs point towards a fun time tonight inside the World’s Most Famous Arena and a couple of pissed-off goalies between the pipes for two teams poised at making a deep run at Lord Stanley this spring.
NHL Pick: Over 6.5 (+102) at Heritage Sports
Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Golden Knights
Wednesday, December 08, 2021 - 10:00 PM EST at T-Mobile Arena
Speaking of a statue that I had breakfast once many moons ago inside NHL headquarters, two teams piled up on top of each other in the Western Conference playoff race face off tonight as the Dallas Stars visit Sin City to face off against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Tied with Winnipeg and Colorado for the 8th seed at 28 points apiece, the Stars and Knights try to break from the pack on national television.
Golden Knights are 8-4 so far inside the T-Mobile arena in 2021, while the Stars are 4-6 outside of Dallas this season, yet Dallas is riding a hot hand into tonight winning their last seven games with two being against top teams in the western conference (St. Louis and Edmonton).
Heritage Sports doesn’t think Dallas is riding the hot hand as they are a +124 underdog on the money line for tonight and the Golden Knights are a solid -138 favorite to take the win on home ice.
Coming in at 6-4 in their last ten, the Golden Knights have piled on the goals in their victories, but kept things close in defeat, never losing by more than two goals on this run and winning by as much as six against the Coyotes.
When these two faced off earlier in the season, Dallas fell at home to the Knights but kept it close at a 3-2 final score. Seeing how close these two teams are, adding in the pressure of national TV and Dallas’ winning streak, I still take the Golden Knights to win at -145, BUT I do also suggest taking them on the spread of -1.5 at +178.
Hopefully, we all win some money with our NHL picks and are able to buy solid gold boats. Until next time… let’s do that hockey.
