The contrast in both teams’ seasons this early in the season has been huge and the Lighting seem to be suffering from a back-to-back Stanley Cup run as they are yet to win a game in regulation time, can we trust them to win here at NHL odds of -145 moneyline? Their opponents, the Pittsburgh Penguins have yet to lose a game this season in regulation time.
Tuesday, October 26, 2021 – 07:00 PM EDT at PPG Paints Arena
The Lighting have struggled big-time here as they have only picked up 5 points from a possible 12, not exactly the type of form we would expect from the double defending Stanley Cup champions, has the loss over their entire 3rd line been the main reason for the slow start, or is it something deeper than this.
The Lighting have only scored 16 goals, and even more so they have conceded a very high 26 goals. No doubt the Lighting will getter better over the next few weeks when they gel a little better, but right now they are all over the place.
The Penguins are keeping chase with two of the hottest teams right now in the Metropolitan Division as the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes sit on 10 points, the Penguins are with 8. They also have the Islanders, Rangers, and Blue Jackets around them, this could end up being the toughest division in the NHL this season and a 3rd or 4th place finish would be a super achievement for most teams in this division.
Even without a lot of their star players being available for them tonight, we think they should have enough ability to see of an under-par Lighting.

Tampa Bay Lightning

Pittsburgh Penguins
Moneyline: The Lighting opened up at a very low -172 on the moneyline but have since been backed into -145. The home side are at plus money as they are priced up at +127 with BetOnline.
Total: The total is sitting at 6 with most sportsbooks but BetOnline are currently showing a 6.5 line. The under 6.5 with BetOnline is -120 and it’s a play we would make official only the line might be gone by the time this gets out there, but if it’s still there we advise to take the under 6.5 at -120.
Puck Line: The Lighting on the PK line is +165 with Intertops, if you believe the home side at +1.5 is a good bet here then you are currently looking at odds of -145.
This one is most definitely our favorite play thus far this season, we have an amazing set of odds on the home underdogs, we firmly believe the max the Penguins should be priced up at here is +115, so for this reason we would gladly play the Penguins on the moneyline every single time, even if it’s a loss I would take this bet again, their just too much value.
The Penguins have scored 4.2 goals per game this season and opponents Tampa Bay have allowed a whopping 4.6 goals per game. The Penguins are yet to lose in regulation.
The Lighting is all over the place at the moment and without Kucherov they are severely weakened. The Penguins are of amazing value because of their key players missing, Crosby, Malkin, and Rust all miss tonight’s game at the time of writing. With that being said, they thumped the Leafs 7-1 last time out with a weakened team and they looked impressive.
Yes, the Lighting might be a step up from the Leafs given their back-to-back Stanley Cup champions but we can’t trust a team at -145 when they’re in such bad form. The Penguins have been clicking much better this season thus far. Will tonight finally be the night the
Lighting win in regulation? Let’s hope not. Let’s take the Penguins at plus money on home ice for our NHL picks.
