Tampa Bay stay in Canada for this road game following their previous outing in Montreal, a game in which they were -200 favorites but only barely managed to win 3-2. The Lightning are now on a four-game winning streak heading into this game.

Toronto got back to winning ways last time out in a 5-4 win over Columbus. Although Toronto currently sits ahead of the Lighting by two points in the Atlantic Division, they have played two more games than Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay in Full Swing

The Lighting are back to the dominating force that won them back to back championships, and all without Nikita Kucherov, It’s amazing to think of the number of games he has missed for this franchise and they are still double champions and still one of the best teams in the league night in and night out without him on the ice.

Although the Lighting rank only 8th in most goals per game, that will no doubt increase when Kucherov returns, and furthermore, they have managed to put up three or more goals in nine of their previous ten NHL games. Vasilevskiy has been impressive recently allowing two or fewer goals in seven of his last ten.

Toronto Purple Patch at Home

Toronto are also hot lately as they have now won eight of their previous ten on home ice and seven of their last ten both home and away. Their last game saw Morgan Rielly put up four assists in the win over the Blue Jackets, as well as two goals scored by Auston Matthews. Are Toronto finally ready for the playoffs or will it be the same old same old as they end the regular season as one of the best teams only to be knocked out early in the playoffs? Only time will tell.

Defensively the Leafs have been solid this year, they have allowed the third least amount of goals in the NHL to date and Jake “soupy” Campbell has been outstanding in net, allowing only 1.89 GAA and has a record of 14-4-2 as well as having the joint most shutouts in the league.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Betting Prediction

The under 6.0 does look like a worthy play for our NHL picks, as both teams have been solid on defense and goaltending thus far this season, with both goalies red hot right now and the absence of Mitch Marner for the Leafs, we feel this is most likely the best play here.

Tampa Bay do seem to be in a good spot here with the Leafs without Marner and the Lighting owning Toronto as of late with eight wins from their previous twelve trips to Toronto, they are worthy of a bet at plus money. We like both the Lightning and the under and if we had to pick our favorite play here it’s the under but Tampa Bay does represent more value at top sportsbooks.
