Tampa Bay returns home after a five-game road trip and they are as low as -200 to pick up a win on home ice against the 12-10-4 LA Kings. The Kings have only won once of the past seven in their trips to Tampa Bay. With the Lightning coming off a 4-0 defeat to Ottawa they will look to get back on the winning track in the return home tonight.
Los Angeles Kings vs. Tampa Bay Lighting

Kings Punching Above Weight?
The Kings, despite having a winning record on the season have only scored 2.58 goals per game, the 7th worst in the NHL. They have also struggled on the penalty kill this season, giving them the record of the 4th worse in the league.
The veterans have been the stars of the team thus far this season as the 35-year-old Jonathan Quick is having a super season, allowing only 2.04 goals per game with a 93.3 save rate. Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, Alexander Edler have set a high standard for teammates with the two defenders being the top two-point scorers on the defense and Kopitar the top points scorers from all the forwards.
The whole team looks to be improving and if they keep punching, eventually they will be in the top weight. The old guys ain't got much time left in those legs, can they make an unlikely playoff push this year?
Tampa Back on Home Ice
Although the Lighting had a successful five-game road trip, winning four of the five, it will be the 5th game that lingers the most of their mind as they were shutout 4-0 to the 7-16-1 Ottawa Senators.
The Lighting seems to do this at least a few times each season, show up to a game where they are a “gimme” and end up taking a big loss, it won’t be the first time we see this from this team. With that being said an 80% win record in five road games is more than good enough to keep them in the fight for the Eastern Conference. These types of blips never hold back the back-to-back Stanley cup champions. The Lighting is looking to bounce back here.

Los Angeles Kings vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Betting Prediction
Although I usually don’t like touching big underdogs in the NHL, I cannot believe the Kings are -140 with a +1.5 puck line. The Kings have been playing well lately and Jonathan Quick will be in the net tonight, he has been having an outstanding season to date and the Lighting, although having great strength in depth, are still missing Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point. Other noticeable missing players are Cernak, Seabrook, and Cirelli.
The Lighting on a bounce-back win as low as -200 hasn’t been a gimme either in recent years and, for our NHL pick, we are more than happy to take Quick and the boys to at least cover +1.5 goals in this NHL game down in Florida.
