Although the Lighting are in the 7th spot of the Eastern Conference and the NY Islanders linger down in 14th, Tampa Bay have only picked up 7 points at the Amalie Arena so far this season. Today’s opponents, NY Islanders have been on the road the entire season and tonight marks their 12th game in a row in which they will play on the road.
New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lighting
Monday, November 15, 2021 – 07:00 PM EST at Amalie Arena
Lighting Slowly Improving
The Lighting have started to look a little bit more solid in recent games after their shaky start to the season. The Lighting are still without star man Nikita Kucherov, who has been absent with an injury to his lower back since mid-October.
Tampa Bay have started to improve on home ice following their 0-2-1 start to the season, they have since won three of their previous four on home ice. Tampa will have gained a lot of confidence over their win against Florida rivals the Panthers in their last outing, the gap between the two teams isn’t as big as we first thought. The Lighting are six points behind the Panthers, who are division leaders, but Tampa Bay have played two games less.
Islanders Starting To Slump?
The end of the constant road trips is almost in sight now for the Islanders, who will play their first home game on Sunday. Following a long stretch as big as this on the road they will be very happy to get back home. Unsurprisingly, the Islanders have been one of the best defenses in the NHL, allowing just 28 goals in their opening games, this team, as we know is built from the back up and it’s this low scoring, tight style of play that has allowed them to overachieve in recent years.
The Islanders might be in 14th right now in the Division but we expect them to quickly move up the table in the coming weeks now they will see more home games and less traveling.

New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Betting Prediction
These teams will be familiar with each having met twice in the playoffs in the previous two years, we understand why the line is set at 5.5 here, both teams know each other’s games inside out by now.
The Islanders are coming off a 2 game losing streak in which they have allowed 9 goals and scored only twice, and scoring has been their biggest issue thus far this season, they rank 31st in the league for goals scored. They have the 2nd best-ranked defense in terms of goals allowed and have had a three-day rest heading into this game.
We see the home side winning here but not by many goals, there are a a few ways to approach this game in our opinion, taking them outright on the moneyline at -130 looks like an okay bet, but we can get +120 for the Lighting to win in regulation. It’s a riskier bet, but one we are happy to take here with the ever-improving Tampa Bay.
If you’re a none risk-taker, we are happy to take the home side -130 on the moneyline but no less than those odds.
