This is going to be one of the best games of the night. As we see the 9-1-0 Hurricanes traveling to the sunshine state to face back-to-back Stanley Cup champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have only just started to pick up form in recent games, with four wins in five compared to two wins in their opening six games.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Tampa Bay Lighting

Tuesday, November 9, 2021 – 7:00 PM EST at Amalie Arena

Carolina Start Season Strong

The Hurricanes had been undefeated all season long until their last time out in a match against Florida Panthers. Both teams went into the game having gone undefeated during regulation so far this season. The Panthers came out winners with a 5-2 scoreline. The Hurricanes will be looking to bounce back here tonight but they have a difficult task facing a Lighting team who are starting to string a few wins tonight.

Sebastien Aho and Andrei Svechnikov have really come of age this season and have so far posted a combined 24 points in the opening ten games. The young squad are talented and don’t be surprised to see them make it deep into the playoffs.

Is Tampa Bay Back?

Tampa might have picked up four wins in their past five but they haven’t looked very sharp or impressive really, and their defeat to Toronto during the week was a poor performance that even called for their coach to rip into them in the public eye. For us, it seems the Lightning still have some improvements to make to get back to their best, this kind of form and performance won’t be winning them any Stanley Cup this year.

Nikita Kucherov is still out and will be for another 6-9 weeks, this team is still one of the best in the NHL but we can’t see them finishing top of the division. A major blow for the Lighting tonight will be the loss of defenseman Mikhail Sergachev. It looks like Andrea Vasilevskiy will get the start tonight having sit out the game against Ottawa last time out.

What Are The Betting Odds and Current Lines?

Moneyline: The Carolina Hurricanes opened at a massive +245 but have since shortened into as low as +120 with some sportsbooks, with the best odds available right now being +125 with Intertops. The Lightning are best odds of -135.

Total: The game total is set at 5.5 with the under-priced up at +100 and the over being juiced to -120.

Puck Line: If you believe the Hurricanes will not lose by more than two goals you can get them at the +1.5 puck line at odds of -195. If you believe the Lighting will win by two or more, they are +170 on the -1.5 PK line.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Betting Prediction

We would rather go with the hot team who are looking for a bounce-back win rather than a team we feel are still a little hungover from their back-to-back Stanley Cups. We believe there to be incredible value on Carolina to win at +125 and we fully expect these odds to drop to around +105 / +110 before puck drop.

Tampa Bay’s recent uptake in results has played a part in their odds tonight and we believe the true value is far from -135 and we would most likely want about +115 to bet them here, the Hurricanes are a much better team right now, averaging 3.9 goals for and 2.0 against. Compare that to Tampa Bay’s 3.18 for and 3.18 against.

The Canes are going to bring it to the Lighting tonight and we really only see the home side winning here if their goaltender is red hot because this Canes offensive is dangerous.
