The Toronto Maple Leafs’ Stanley Cup dream seems to be already on the back burner this season, as the team has started off with a 4-4-2 record and is already sitting 3rd last in the Eastern Conference.
Currently on a 0-4 run, they are looking to get their first win back on home ice having played their previous five games on the road. They are heavy favorites on the NHL odds boards to win this matchup tonight at -300, but the Philadelphia Flyers have proven they’re no pushovers this season.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Preview
Following 7 years in Columbus, John Tortorella seems to be finding his feet with this new Philadelphia team.
Philadelphia might not be playing great hockey right now, but they always seem to step up when it counts this season and this has left them sitting pretty in the Metropolitan division with a 5-2-2 record overall.
Having played last night it's likely Carter Hart will be rested following 36 saves in the Flyers' overtime loss to the New York Rangers. Hart has been a big part of this team’s success this season, thanks to him putting up solid numbers in the crease and having the most saves per game, along with the fact he is yet to lose a game in regulation.
The Flyers are finding ways to beat their opponents right now, but with back-to-back games and with their second-string goaltender likely to start, and in a game where the home fans are baying for blood, we will really get to see what sort of Bottle this Flyers team has.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs were blessed with a relatively easy schedule to start of the season yet they have made hard work of it going 4-4-2. Auston Matthews is not putting up the numbers right now (8 points in 10 games) as the team’s best player and one of the league’s top 3, that’s not a good sign for Toronto.
In comparison, Connor McDavid has 22 points in the same number of games, and pretty much all the league's “top players” have 12+ points so far this season. Is there too much pressure on his shoulders playing in Toronto?
The Maple Leafs are struggling and it seems like it's weighing the team morale down, last year they had a top 3 offense, but right now they're way down in 26th.

Final Picks and Predictions
The Over/Under Pick
Despite the Flyers most likely having their number 2 in net, we still like this total line to stay under, seven or more goals seems a little high considering this is not going to be an open game of Hockey.
We will most likely see the Flyers' backs to the wall and hope for a lucky break every now and again.
The Maple Leafs won’t be all that interested in pumping all their men forward as this really is a must-not-lose game more than it is a put-up-goals type game. It also helps that these teams have seen a lot of games go under the total thus far this season. In all reality, this line should be 6.0, even if it is the Maple Leafs on home ice.
The Prop Pick
This is a bit of a risky selection, so we suggest playing half a unit.
We do like the value on the Maple Leafs Forward William Nylander to see under 2.5 shots, although he has been averaging 3 shots per game this season, his previous five games have seen his shot count at 2/2/0/4/1.
Back on home ice against a Flyers team who are back to the wall, we suspect he will get 3+ shots, but at +150 we can't not have a slice of this under.
Predicted Score: Philadelphia Flyers 1 – Toronto Maple Leafs 4
NHL Pick: William Nylander Under 2.5 Shots (+150) at BetOnline
