Picks Summary:

  • Golden Knights ML (-130)
  • Jonathan Marchessault (Golden Knights) – Over 2.5 Shots (-130)

The Vegas Golden Knights are hosting the Calgary Flames who are on the second of back-to-back games having played and beaten the Arizona Coyotes 6-3 last night.

Vegas comes into this game off the back of a 3-2 penalty shootout loss against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night.

Check out why we believe the Golden Knights can bounce back with a win in this Western Conference matchup on home ice as our top NHL pick.

We are also targeting our best bet for a player prop in tonight’s game as well.

Calgary Flames vs. Vegas Golden Knights

Thursday, February 23, 2023 – 09:00 PM EST at T-Mobile Arena

Preview

Are the Flames Burning Out?

The Calgary Flames came back from 3-1 down last night to win 6-3, covering the spread for just the 21st time this season, they are still ranked as the worst ATS team in the NHL.

Overall the Flames are 9th in the Western Conference and despite only being 8 points behind first-place Vegas, they have played one, two, and even three games more than most teams above them in the table.

The Flames can make the playoffs this year BUT they are on the back foot and they need to start stringing a few wins together and rid this inconstancy to their game (the Flames have gone 7-8 in their previous 15 games).

In their previous 20 road games the Flames have had a 9-11 record, during that period they played overtime on 8 occasions, winning just once and losing seven.

Average Golden Knights Top Western Conference

This Golden Knights team have been resilient from day one of entering the league back in 2018.

They currently top the (very tight) Western Conference despite being currently riddled with injuries (seven at the time of writing) and bang average in the stats charts, ranking between 9th and 19th in the following stats:

  • Goals Scored (13th
  • Goals Allowed (10th
  • Shots (10th
  • Shots Allowed (9th
  • Power Play (19th
  • Penalty Kill (16th

Despite the Golden Knights going 5-5 over their past ten games, they have only lost twice in regulation during that period, scoring a point in 8 of their previous 10.

They can thank the poor form of their opponents for their top spot in the Western Conference as the two closest teams to them have gone 0-5 (Dallas Stars) and 2-3 (Winnipeg Jets) in their previous five games, but the LA Kings are hot on their heels now having won 4 of their last 5.

Flames vs Golden Knights Pick and Prediction

Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline

The Golden Knights have never lost on home ice to the Calgary Flames, scoring an average of 4.2 goals per game and allowing only 1.14 goals per game as well as earning three shutouts.

This has got to be one of the most dominant home ice performances over any team in recent years in the NHL and given the fact Calgary is inconsistent and on a back-to-back game, give us the Golden Knights to bounce back with a win in this game.

NHL Pick: Golden Knights ML (-130) at BetOnline

NHL Player Prop

Jonathan Marchessault (Golden Knights)

  • Goal: 17
  • Assists: 19
  • Shot Per Game: 3.35

Having taken an average of 3.35 shots per game (which is the most on this Golden Knights team) we are prepared to lay the juice with his shot total over 2.5 tonight at (-130) NHL odds with BetOnline.

Marchessault has seen 3+ shots in six of his previous nine games and even the three he went under the total he landed on two shots, just one shy of cashing as a winner.

On home ice he has been better at producing shots, averaging 3.48 compared to 2.74 on the road.

NHL Pick: Jonathan Marchessault - Over 2.5 Shots (-130) at BetOnline
