Third place in the Eastern Conference plays host to the Western Conferences’ fourth-placed Anaheim Ducks. The Capitals have been dominant at home lately going 10-4 in their previous 14 home games. Anaheim has a 4-4-2 away record thus far this season and has opened up on the money line at +184. Let’s see the NHL odds.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Washington Capitals

Monday, December 6, 2021 – 7:00 PM EST at Capital One Arena

Washington Going Strong Despite Injuries

The Capitals bounced back with a win last time against the Blue Jackets following back-to-back defeats, they have played one game more than the Panthers in the Eastern Division and are currently only one point behind the team from Florida. Not bad for a team missing Nicklas  Backstrom and Anthony Mantha only seeing 10 games so far this season. TJ Oshie has only recently returned to the team and has only played 9 games thus far this season.

The Capitals are a strong team and have a lot of strength in depth, but no doubt the loss of Capitan and future hall of fame Alex Ovechkin would probably slow progress as he has contributed a massive 39 points to the team this season. Evgeny Kuznetsov hasn’t been bad either, racking up 28 points.

Anaheim Ducks Still Strong

One of the surprises thus far this season had been the strength of the Anaheim Ducks, or at least in the early parts of the season. Part of their success has been the contribution towards points scoring from the whole roster. Eleven players have now moved into double digits total points on the season. Troy Terry has proved to be a revelation so far this season with the Ducks' most points scored having contributed 15 goals and 10 assists. The defense contributes to the offense for the Ducks and they have seen four of them move into double digits points.

The big concern for the Ducks is their away form, they have only won three of their last nine road games this season and all those wins came against 12th place LA Kings, 13th place Seattle Kraken and 15th place Vancouver Canucks, it’s going to be a big task to pick up a win on the road to the Capitals given their recent away performers.

What Are The Betting Odds and Current Lines?

Moneyline: The Capitals have been dominant on home soil over the previous few years and their money line betting odds are as low as -205 to win this game tonight. Their much more meat on the bone with Anaheim Ducks +184 odds.

Total: The total for this game has been set at 5.5 with the juice towards the over at -120, which is understandable giving these teams have seen a home and away combined 15 overs and 8 under. The under 5.5 can be bet at +110.

Puck Line: Anaheim is a -130 to cover the +1.5 puck line, if you think the Capitals win this by two or more you can take them on the -1.5 puck line at +110.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Washington Capitals Betting Prediction

These teams met around three weeks ago with the Ducks playing on home ice and coming away with the win in overtime. As much as we would like to make a case for the Ducks here, we just can’t, but we are not in the business of laying -205 on the money line or a low +110 on the -1.5.

We suggest the best play here to be the over 5.5, this line might move to 6.0 by the time the puck drops. The Ducks away games this season have seen 7 overs and 3 under on the 5.5 line. We see Capitals winning this one 4-2 or 5-2.
