The St. Louis Blues come into this road game riding a 2-0 winning streak, however, that was prior to suffering a run in which they went 0-8. They face a very difficult task tonight as they visit the home of the current Stanley Cup champions, the Colorado Avalanche.

Let’s not forget these two met last season in the Playoffs, with the Avalanche winning the series 4-2. This will be their first meeting since then and we expect an electric atmosphere in the Ball Arena tonight so let’s break down the NHL odds for this “revenge game” for the visitors.

St. Louis Blues vs. Colorado Avalanche

Monday, November 14, 2022 – 09:00 PM EST at Ball Arena

St. Louis Blues

Despite making the playoffs last season the Blues have only won 5 of their 13 games played so far this year and currently sit bottom of the Central division. The 0-8 winless stretch sapped the life out of the team and they are now facing an uphill battle to get their way back into the playoffs.

St. Louis are a difficult team to get a read on, they can beat anyone in this league on any given day and a dark horse to go deep into the playoffs despite not having such a “top heavy” or star studded roster. Nonetheless, they work hard and know what needs to get done.

Right now the Blues are very unpredictable. At their best they could beat this Avalanche team in this spot, but there’s also the chance they get thumped by three or four goals.

Colorado Avalanche

Colorado have looked as solid as they come right now, especially in recent games. It’s obvious they needed a little time to get going and recover that excitement to go do it all again the year after their victory. They are not even in 2nd gear right now and are already in a playoff spot.

The replacement goaltender for Darcy Kuemper, Alexandar Georgiev, has started the season strong with a 7-1-1 record and has impressively seen 5.4 expected saves above this season. At the time of writing, we are unsure of the starting goaltender.

Plagued with multiple injuries to starting players the Avalanche have still managed to go 4-0 in their past four games whilst covering the -1.5 pk line on all four occasions.

Blues vs. Avalanche Picks and Predictions

Avalanche's Team Total

  • Over/Under 3.5 Goals

The odds here suggest the better value play is most definitely the St. Louis Blues at +165 compared to Colorado’s -200, and we do love the Blues in this spot, the Avalanche winning streak is going to end sooner or later, the Blues are a gritty team who will want to keep this win streak going and Colorado are missing a lot of players right now.

For us, the Blues win at +165 on the moneyline is the best value NHL pick, but our official pick will be the Colorado Avalanche under 3.5 team total goals.

The reason why? Because we believe if the Blues are going to win this game, they will most definitely have to keep Colorado to a minimum of three goals, on top of this we are also covered in the case that Colorado do win but score less than four goals (although unlikely).

Jordan Kyrou

  • Over/Under 2.5 Shots

Jordan Kyrou has been one of the Blues highest shooting players this season with an average of 3.3 per game and seeing his shots total line go over 2.5 on 9 of 13 occasions this season, a 69% hit rate. This seems like a LOT of value, meaning his true odds according to his stats at the very least be -223.

Of course we have to factor in Colorado defensive shots allowed goals against and other significant stats etc, but at the very basic level we have found value.

Kyrou failed to see over 2.5 shots in his previous game (in fact he only had 1 shot which was his lowest all season) and we believe he will be eager to get some shots in on the Stanley Cup champions.

Predicted Score: Blues 3, Avalanche 2
