After a monster 12 game NHL slate on Thursday night (which saw 4 games decided in overtime) we are left with three games to get sucked into today.

There’s the small matter of the struggling Tampa Bay Lightning playing state rivals Florida on the road tonight, as well as Stanley cup champions playing host to the newest team in the NHL, the Seattle Kraken.

Let’s check out what player props we are on tonight, having gone 3-1 in our last NHL player props article for +2u (based on standard 1u bet).

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Florida Panthers

Friday, October 21, 2022 – 07:30 PM EDT at FLA Live Arena

Lightning Prop Bet: Steven Stamkos

Although we believe the Panthers might come away with the win tonight, we can’t look past Steven Stamkos to pick up at least 3 shots in this game and to see his shot total go over 2.5.

Yes, we are laying some juice here, but this is a solid play. The Panthers might be a strong team who can score a lot, but they do have defensive issues and give up a lot of shots. They have allowed Steven Stamkos to 3/3/5/3/5/3/1/3/3/4 shots against them in the last 10 matchups.

So only once in the last 10 games has he failed to see 3 or more shots on the Florida Panthers. We are happy to lay the juice here for Stamkos.

On top of the fact that he gets the job done against Floria in terms of shots on net, he has also averaged 5.1 shots per game this season, having taken 5/7/4/5 shots in his first four games.

Panthers Prop Bet: Matthew Tkachuk

Matthew Tkachuk being traded to the Florida Panthers showed their intent to step up their chances of winning a Stanley Cup.

The former Calgary Flames player registered 42 goals in 82 games last season for the Flames and so far, this year has scored twice in four games for the Panthers.

Tkachuk is without a goal in his previous two games, and what better way to get back on the board than on home ice against the Tampa Bay Lightning?

Tkachuk has taken 18 shots for far this season (the most on the Panthers roster) and has a shooting percentage sitting at 11.1%. We like his chances to score tonight at +145 NHL odds.

Seattle Kraken vs. Colorado Avalanche

Friday, October 21, 2022 - 09:00 PM EDT at Ball Arena

Avalanche Prop Bet: Nathan MacKinnon

Nathan MacKinnon is the leading man on this Colorado Avalanche team. He averaged 9 shots per game throughout the Avalanche’s Stanley Cup playoff victory, while in the regular season he averaged 9.37 shots per game.

Of course, these weren’t exactly 9 per game, some games he had as low as zero whilst his highest shooting game was 14 shots on net in a 2-0 win over the Jets.

We like his line tonight on home ice against this Seattle Kraken team. MacKinnon has taken 6/3/7/4 shots per game thus far this season, registering 4 last time out during a 4-3 loss to the Jets.

We believe MacKinnon will be trigger-happy tonight and, so for this NHL pick, we see him potentially hitting 6/7 shots here if given the opportunity.

Kraken Prop Bet: Jaden Schwartz

This seems like one of the best set of odds we are getting at the best sportsbooks today based on the stats, but given the fact Seattle are playing the Stanley Cup champions, it’s understandable why we are getting -114 for Jaden Schwartz to register 3+ shots.

Schwartz had taken an average of 2.72 shots per game last season (but only featured in a little less than half of the regular season games) and so far, this season Schwartz has 18 shots in 5 games with 4/4/3/2/5 shots in total.

He is one of the Krakens' main treats, but not big enough that the Avalanche will seek to close him down as rapidly as some of their other players, this might even allow Schwartz some extra opportunities to get into space and some shots on net.
