Sunday brings us some interesting NHL matchups and we are excited to delve into today’s card having gone 6-3 for our previous two NHL props articles. We have 5 games on tonight’s card but have singled them down to our two favorite ones for our NHL Sunday props.

We are targeting the Ducks vs. Red Wings (this could be a high-scoring game) and secondly the Blue Jackets travel to New York following their 6-3 defeat to the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. Let’s break down the NHL odds for today.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Detroit Red Wings

Sunday, October 23, 2022 – 05:00 PM EDT at Little Caesars Arena

Troy Terry (Anaheim Ducks)

  • Points Scored Over/Under 0.5

After opening up the season with six points in the first three games, Troy Terry has since gone dry and hasn't recorded an assist or goal in his last two games for the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks have been struggling this year, losing all but one of their games (their only victory was in overtime against the Seattle Kraken). During that victory, Troy picked up 2 goals and 1 assist.

We see this matchup between the Ducks and Red Wings being a high-scoring affair and we like Terry's chances to get back on the board tonight wether it is a goal or assist.

NHL Prop Pick: Over 0.5 Points (-130) at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)

Moritz Seider (Detroit Red Wings)

  • Assists Made Over/Under 0.5

The line for Moritz Seider to pick up an assist tonight seems very profitable, with odds at +130, considering he finished last season as the Red Wings' highest assist maker with a total of 43.

Moritz has not scored a single point thus far this season but he has played the most amount of minutes for the Red Wings this season and managed to score 1 assist in two appearances against the Ducks last season.

With the Red Wings on home ice tonight we like their chances of racking up a few goals and believe this plus money play to represent good value. Moritz will be eager to get a few points on the board considering he ended last season as the highest-scoring defenseman on the team during his rookie season.

NHL Prop Pick: Over 0.5 Assist (+130) at BetOnline

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. New York Rangers

Sunday, October 23, 2022 - 05:00 PM EDT at Madison Square Garden

Vincent Trocheck (New York Rangers)

  • Shots Made Over/Under 2.5

New York Rangers' newly acquired center, Vincent Trocheck, has cleared his over 2.5 shots line in every game this season, with a total of 4/4/4/5/3 shots per game. Hence, we were incredibly surprised to see we only have to lay -114 on 3+ shots tonight as we expected to lay around -140 or else see a 3.5 line.

The Blue Jackets are 2-4 on the season and are on their second game of a back-to-back. On top of this, the Blue Jackets have allowed over 30 shots per game (one of the highest in the league right now).

NHL Prop Pick: Over 2.5 Shots (-114) at BetOnline

Mika Zibanejad (New York Rangers)

  • Points Scored Over/Under 1.5

We are staying away from player props for Columbus and doubling down on the Rangers on home ice, Trocheck looks good for 3+ shots but there is even better value to be found on the Rangers' main man these days, Mika Zibanejad, to score over 1.5 points in tonight’s contest at odds of +160.

Zibanejad seems to be scoring in bunches this season with 2/2/0/4/0 points so far this season. Even dating back to last year’s campaign, he scored 2 or more points on 7 of 13 occasions during the Rangers Stanley Cup playoff run.

During the regular season, Zibanejad managed 2+ points in 21 of his 81 games played. Which is an average of almost 1 in 4. We like the fact he didn’t score a single point in his last game out for the Rangers, which was a 3-2 overtime loss against the lowly San Jose Sharks.

The Rangers and Zibanejad will be expecting a win on home ice tonight.

NHL Prop Pick: Over 1.5 Points (+160) at BetOnline
