It’s finally here the pinnacle of the NHL season all boils down to this series between the back-to-back and going for the Hat Trick Tampa Bay Lightning and the Colorado Avalanche who are seeking their first Stanley Cup since 2001.

It’s hard to know what way game one will go but we are going on the assumption it will be a tight affair but we feel the Avalanche might take game 1. Check out what NHL player props we are riding for tonight’s game.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Colorado Avalanche

Wednesday, June 15, 2022 – 08:00 PM EDT at Ball Arena

Victor Hedman | Tampa Bay Lightning

Victor Hedman has picked up the 4th most amount of points on this Lighting roster in the postseason but we are not targeting his points here in game one. Instead, we are interested in his shot total going over 2.5.

Hedman managed the tied 2nd most amount of shots on the team in the playoffs to date, taking 54 shots in 17 games, which is an average of 3.17 shots per game.

The Rangers kept Hedman at bay allowing him to see three or more shots in just two of six games.

Avalanche Defense

The Avalanche aren’t as defensively inclined and if they look to make this a defensive battle it might play into Tampa Bay’s hands.

Hedman represents the best value over 2.5 shots in game one on the Lighting roster and he has the stats to back it up.

NHL Pick: Hedman Over 2.5 Shots (-120) with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)

J.T Compher | Colorado Avalanche

This is our first under-points play this postseason and unfortunately for the Avalanches J.T Compher, we are fading him in tonight’s game to score a point.

Compher played the Lighting twice in the regular season and didn’t pick up a single point and only took one shot.

Compher in this Postseason

Thus far in the postseason, Compher has picked up 7 points in 14 games played, an average of one point every two games. Compher also failed to score a single point in 10 of his 14 postseason games.

We are laying some juice here but are happy to do so with Compher’s numbers, although we do suggest not laying any more juice than -135.

NHL Pick: J.T Compher Under 0.5 Points (-135) with BetOnline

Andrei Vasilevskiy | Tampa Bay Lighting

Tampa Bay has allowed an average of 31.94 shots in the postseason to date whilst their opponents Colorado have taken an average of 40.71 shots per game.

The Avalanche have had an extra 5 days rest than the Lightning and they are at home where they have averaged 41.2 shots per game on home ice.

Andrei Vasilevskiy is one of the best goaltenders in the NHL right now and it’s no surprise the Lighting have made it to the Stanley Cup finals again with him in the crease.

Vasilevski Analysis

Vasilevski has saved an average of 29.5 shots in the postseason, allowing 2.27 goals per game with a save percentage sitting at .928%.

We are anticipating an Avalanche bombardment in game one on the Lightning goaltender and for this reason, we are happy to take Vasilevski to save 33 or more shots in the opening game of the series.

NHL Pick: Vasilevskiy O32.5 Saves (-120) with BetOnline

Nathan MacKinnon | Colorado Avalanche

Our final selection ahead of game one is the Avalanches star man to see over 1.5 points, he has been usually priced up at NHL odds of +150 to see over 1.5 points per game in these playoffs, but today we are getting +180 possible because it game one and the sportsbooks are expecting a tight matchup, plus the Lighting are no pushovers like the Oilers or Predators.

MacKinnon had success in the regular season when he played the Lighting once and scored a hat trick of points, bagging two assists and one goal.

The Avalanche forward has only failed to score at least one point in 2 of his 14 postseason games.

MacKinnon Analysis

Admittedly he has seen over 1.5 points cash in just 3 of 14 games but we are prepared to take the risk in this opener, if any of these games in this series aren’t going to be tight, we expect it to be game one.

We suggest taking just a ½ unit risk on this play as Vasilevskiy in the crease can be dangerous when betting opposition players to score points.

NHL Pick: MacKinnon Over 1.5 Points (+180) with The Top Rated Sportsbooks
