Two 2-11 teams, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans, meet in Week 15 for likely the worst game of the season. The Texans are coming off a brutal loss to the Seahawks while the Jaguars are coming off a similar loss to the Titans.

Which team will magically improve to 3-11? Below, we’ll take a look at the early NFL odds and best sportsbook to bet with.

Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Sunday, December 19, 2021 – 01:00 PM EST at TIAA Bank Field

The Texans entered Week 14 as 8.5-point underdogs and remain the team getting the points this week. As for the Jaguars, they were also an 8.5-point underdog last week but are the favorite for the NFL picks. According to Heritage Sports, Jacksonville is a 5-point favorite over Houston with the over/under at 39.5.

The Matchup

The Texans looked like a real football team in Week 11 when they upset the Tennessee Titans on the road. However, it must have been their lucky day because they have lost three straight since then, not to mention averaged just three points a game.

Last week, they were able to put up 13 points against Seattle, but the week prior, they were held to 0 against the Colts. Houston is a mess, more so on offense. In fact, they have not broken 100 yards rushing since Week 6 and currently rank last across the league in rushing yards (1,008 yds), rushing touchdowns (6), and yards per rushing attempt (3.3).

But their biggest concern is their quarterback situation. They’ve thrown rookie Davis Mills into the fire this season, who has thrown for 1,737 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions so far. He’s shown some flashes of hope, but he’s certainly not starting NFL quarterback material.

The Jaguars are “twinning” with Houston and are coming off a 20-0 loss to Tennessee, entering Sunday on a five-game losing streak. They rank 31st in scoring with 13.8 points a game and 30th in total offense, averaging 303.1 yards per game.

Their run game is also brutal as they are averaging 88.6 rushing yards through their five-game skid. This problem has put a lot more pressure on rookie QB Trevor Lawrence, who threw four interceptions last week. The Clemson product has thrown for 2,735 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions this season.

But, it’s a near era in Jacksonville after the team announced that they have fired head coach Urban Meyer on Wednesday, December 16. Meyer, single-handily, has caused a lot of drama for the team, from reports of him cheating on his wife to kicking his kicker and calling his coaching staff “losers”. This could be the reason the team has been sloppy, considering they were not a big fan of him. And who really wants to play for someone they loathe?

The new era in Jax could mean a turn of events for the Jaguars as the offensive coordinator steps in as their interim head coach. Of course, this doesn’t mean a drastic change will happen, but a clear atmosphere, free from the drama queen, could light some sort of fire in them.

No matter what though, this game is going to be a sloppy one and if you’re betting on it, then good luck. With that being said, I’m putting my money on Lawrence and this new Jaguars team.
