Week 18 is basically the playoffs. On Sunday Night Football, the Chargers and Raiders will play for a chance at a Wild Card spot. Earlier, the Lions might just get their third win of the season.

I’m smelling upsets in Sin City and Motown so let’s break down the NFL odds for these games.

Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions

Sunday, January 09, 2022 – 01:00 PM EST at Ford Field

The Packers already clinched home-field advantage and could sit all of their key starters for this game against the Lions. Detroit, on the other hand, might be without Jared Goff, but at least the Lions have shown some success getting the ball down the field with Tim Boyle under center.

If the Packers elect to start (or play) Jordan Love for a large portion of the game, the Packers could very well lose this game. We’ve been waiting for the moment where Love breaks out. But every time he’s given the chance, he’s been underwhelming. I’m ready to bet against Love and the Packers here.

I know the Lions are thinking about draft picks in Week 18, but overall, most players are playing for a job and don’t care about the team’s draft picks. Love completed just 26 passes on 45 attempts this season and was averaging 6.2 yards per completion this season.

When Love came into the league, he was expected to be a duel threat. But he’s rushed just 11 times for 28 yards, average 2.5 yards per carry, when given the chance. This is a complete fade of Jordan Love. To think he was going to start for the Packers this season earlier in the season is just stunning.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Sunday, January 09, 2022 - 08:20 PM EST at Allegiant Stadium

This game is for a wild card spot in the AFC. We’re basically watching playoff football in Week 18, on Sunday Night Football. The Raiders have won three straight games and will look to win their fourth in a row to make the postseason. Both teams are 9-7 and are divisional rivals. It doesn’t get better than this.

However, if the Raiders finish 9-8 they would still make the playoffs with a Colts and Steelers loss. The Chargers would be done with a loss. Anyway, I’ve enjoyed the Raiders and how they’ve played defensively recently. Las Vegas has allowed 20 or fewer points in each of their last three games.

The Chargers already defeated the Raiders earlier this year, but that was before all the crazy and hectic things happened to that team. It just feels different now. Las Vegas is cool, calm, and collected and is really stringing together quality wins to make the postseason.

With everything going on this year for the Raiders, those players seriously deserve a playoff spot. I’ll be rooting for them and believe the offense will show out against a Chargers defense that allowed 41 to Houston and 34 to Kansas City in two of their last three games for my second NFL pick.
