Last week we clicked with all three underdogs as the Giants, Jets, and Bengals all covered the number with two of the three winning their games outright!
Minnesota Vikings vs. Miami Dolphins
Sunday, October 16, 2022 – 01:00 PM EDT at Hard Rock Stadium
The Vikings sit atop the NFC North with a 4-1 record after dispatching the Bears, 29-22, in a game that saw Justin Jefferson end with a career-high 12 catches for 154 yards as he continues to bolster the argument that he is arguably the best receiver in the game.
The lofty expectations the Dolphins had for this season are suddenly in peril after Tua’s concussion and backup Teddy Bridgewater’s abrupt exit from last week’s 40-17 upset loss to the reinvigorated New York Jets.
Miami is now 3-2 and suddenly in danger of sinking to .500 on the season.
Vikings vs. Dolphins: Pick and Prediction
It should surprise no one that the line has spiked a full four points from the opener as Miami has gone from one-point favorites to three-point underdogs. I would like to say this line might drift above the magic three, but I don’t think the sharps will wait that long to take a bite out of what could be a live home dog in this one.
The Vikings might be 4-1, but they are 1-4 against the spread and if Teddy Bridgewater is back under center for this one this could be an ideal spot to bet them getting a field goal head start. Bridgewater suffered two injuries last week, a possible concussion and a sore elbow.
It is the latter that concerns me much more as Bridgewater passed the concussion tests and should be ready to go for this one. However, if he doesn’t then the third-stringer, Skylar Thompson, will likely be back in the saddle.
Either way, the public has a short-term memory, which is why they will be pounding the visiting Vikings. Let’s turn the tables and take what the top-rated sportsbooks are generously offering us on Miami.
Predicted Score: Dolphins 24 - Vikings 23
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday, October 16, 2022 - 01:00 PM EDT at Acrisure Stadium
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Had it not been for an outrageous roughing the passer call against Atlanta, the Bucs could have been the victims of an upset by their cellar-dwelling NFC South rivals.
Instead, they claimed a 21-15 win over the Falcons but failed to cover the 10 ½ point impost.
The Steelers are fresh off of a Josh Allen curb stomp that saw the Bills crush Pittsburgh, 38-3, in Buffalo.
The Buffalo quarterback is making a serious MVP case for himself after shredding the Steelers’ secondary for 424 yards and four touchdowns.
Buccaneers vs. Steelers: Pick and Prediction
Overreactions by the betting public are expected and this is just another example. The line opened with Tampa Bay as 6 ½ point road favorites but that has ballooned to 9 as of this Monday morning writing.
And although I am no fan of this edition of the Steelers, I’m not all that enthused about the Bucs as a powerhouse either.
Kenny Pickett has now had a baptism by fire against a swarming Bills pass rush and will likely be better because of it when he faces the Bucs on Sunday.
Predicted Score: Bucs 22 - Steelers 16
Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks
Sunday, October 16, 2022 - 04:05 PM EDT at Lumen Field
Arizona proved scrappier than most would have predicted in dropping a 20-17 decision to the Eagles last Sunday as the Cardinals' defense held Jalen Hurts to 239 yards and no touchdowns.
It was only a successful field by the Eagles with under two minutes remaining in the game that was the difference.
The Seahawks battled the Saints throughout the afternoon, but ultimately came up short as Taysom Hill was a one-man wrecking crew with one passing and three rushing touchdowns leading to a 39-32 victory over the Hawks.
Cardinals vs. Seahawks: Pick and Prediction
The last time these divisional rivals met was in January when Seattle secured a 38-30 win as 5 ½ point road dogs.
Thus, there will be a revenge factor motivating the Cardinals in this one and Kyler Murray should be able to take full advantage of Seattle’s 25th-ranked passing defense while the ground game should punish their 32nd-ranked run-stop unit.
All of the best online sportsbooks are hanging the visiting Cardinals as three-point road favorites in this one but Bookmaker (visit our Bookmaker Review) is tantalizing us with a 2 ½ as of this writing. Let’s get below the three and cash a ticket.
Predicted Score: Cardinals 24 - Seahawks 17
NFL Pick: Cardinals -2 ½ (-115) at Bookmaker
