Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks

Sunday, October 16, 2022 – 04:05 PM EDT at Lumen Field

Cardinals' Fierce Defense

The Cardinals proved to be a much tougher out for the Eagles last Sunday than most people suspected. The score was knotted at 17 apiece until Philadelphia took the lead for good off the foot of placekicker Cameron Dicker who split the uprights with under two minutes remaining and kept the Eagles undefeated with a 20-17 victory.

Kyler Murray racked up 250 passing yards while the Arizona rushing attack chewed up 124 yards led by James Conner who registered a modest 55 yards on nine carries.

However, it was the defense that impressed most of all as they held Jalen Hurts in check and off the scoreboard, at least through the air, but he did burn the Cardinals on the ground with a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Seahawks Can't Stop Taysom Hill

Seattle was coming off of a 48-45 shootout over the Lions in Week 4 before they marched into New Orleans and took on the Saints, installed as 5.5-point road underdogs.

Little did they know this was going to be another case of all offense and little defense being played. And had it not been for New Orleans’ master of gadgets, Taysom Hill, they would have likely marched out of the Bayou with a victory.

But the jack-of-all-trades could not be stopped as Hill had three rushing touchdowns and even tossed a 22-yard passing TD which led to a 39-32 victory over Seattle. But once again, Seahawks’ quarterback, Geno Smith, proved he was more than up to the task by throwing for 3 touchdowns and chalking up 267 yards through the air in the process.

Cardinals vs. Seahawks: Pick and Prediction

The Cardinals will have revenge on their minds after dropping a 38-30 decision in the desert to the Seahawks last January. We should also note that Seattle’s defense has shown no traces of being able to do much of anything as they are ranked 26th against the pass, 32nd against the run, 32nd in total points allowed, and 31st in points allowed.

And while Arizona isn’t particularly adept at much of anything, except stopping the run where they allow an average of 97.4 yards per game (5th), they’re not bad either.

They are simply a mediocre team that will take advantage of a woeful Seahawks defense. Let’s watch the Cardinals cover the number at the top-rated sportsbooks and this game fly high.

Predicted Score: Cardinals 34 – Seahawks 27

Carolina Panthers vs. Los Angeles Rams

Sunday, October 16, 2022 - 04:05 PM EDT at SoFi Stadium

Panthers Lost Their Coach

The Panthers wound up on the losing end of a 37-15 decision to the 49ers in front of 72,000 disappointed fans at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

The loss also cost head coach, Matt Rhule, his job and he will be replaced by defensive pass game coordinator, Steven Wilks, on Sunday when they meet the Rams.

Baker Mayfield had another underwhelming performance with 215 passing yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. Christian McCaffrey was only marginally better but we always expect more from one of the league’s best all-around players, as he ended with 54 rushing and 50 receiving yards, as well as a touchdown.

Disappointing Rams

It’s fair to say no one believed the reigning Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams would be under .500 entering Week 6 of this season. But here they are and things look grim, to say the least.

And if you have been blindly betting them hoping things would turn around, then your bankroll is markedly thinner because of it as LA is 1-4 against the number.

Last Sunday was just more of the same as the Rams’ offense just can’t seem to put points on the board despite Matthew Stafford throwing for 308 yards and a touchdown in a 22-10 home loss to the Cowboys.

In what has become an all-too-common occurrence, the Rams rushing attack was grounded yet again as Cam Akers was the Rams’ leading rusher with 33 yards on 13 carries.

Panthers vs. Rams: Pick and Prediction

This could be a decent spot to bet on the Panthers because their coach is gone and everyone on the team gets a clean slate. We should also note that the Rams could very well be looking ahead to next week when they face their chief divisional rival, San Francisco, next week.

The Rams have a decent defense this season but it’s not truly elite and won’t choke the lackluster Panthers offense completely.

This game is shaping up as a bit of a snooze job and it looks like the Cats are getting just enough points to make them a viable underdog here. This game goes low with Carolina staying within the margins.

Predicted Score: Panthers 13 - Rams 23
