Whew! Week 1. Whether you won or lost your NFL picks, it was a cluster (whoops, can’t say that here). Sorry, it was a complete mess with so much bad football played. The primary culprit, which almost every losing coach and some winning ones too admitted, was the lack of playing in games in the preseason.

Unfortunately, NFL reporters didn’t press that answer to ask why the coach or organization didn’t utilize their players if it possibly gave the opponent an edge. This week, we should start to see crisper play and more continuity on both sides of the ball.

Given how the NFL odds and other factors looked early and now, here are our value picks for Week 2.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Los Angeles Rams

Sunday, September 18, 2022 – 04:05 PM EDT at SoFi Stadium

What We Learned From Week 1

The Los Angeles Rams were one of several teams that played like they thought the season started the following week and were still on vacation.

Atlanta was not one of those lazy teams and second-year coach Arthur Smith developed a high-caliber game plan for New Orleans and executed it perfectly into the fourth quarter. That’s when the Saints decided to play and the Falcons could not respond.

Falcons vs. Rams: Pick and Prediction

There was a lot of early outrage that the Super Bowl champs were -10.5 point favorites after their sorry showing versus Buffalo, but let’s not forget the opening line was -13. We, however, do agree handing out -10.5 in Week 2 seems too much, yet we don’t disagree with the oddsmakers' line.

We will instead turn our attention to the total of 47 (opened at 49.5), firmly believing L.A. has offensive issues to work through and Atlanta’s blitz packages can get to Matthew Stafford.

At the same time, the Rams' defense was embarrassed and their desire will be at a higher level. Add in the Blue and Yellow is 16-4 Under at SoFi Stadium and 10-1 Under in Inglewood off a loss and we’ll back a lower score.

Tennessee Titans vs. Buffalo Bills

Monday, September 19, 2022 - 07:15 PM EDT at Highmark Stadium

What We Learned From Week 1

This game write-up will require you to pay attention as it is not a side or total. This will be a two-team teaser play with options, with the centerpiece Buffalo.

The Bills were the Super Bowl favorites coming into the season and they did not do anything in Tinsel Town to discredit that notion in Week 1. One can say Buffalo favored by 10 points over Tennessee is a purposeful overreaction to manhandling the Rams last week and that would not be entirely wrong.

While we agree that -10 is like an average person trying to lift their weight, the fact is Tennessee is not the same team of the past few years. The O-Line is in decline along with QB Ryan Tannehill and beyond the Titans' defensive linemen, not much to get excited about with Tennessee stop troops.

Titans vs. Bills: Pick and Prediction

A wise course of action is to tease Buffalo down to -4, getting off the 10 points and through the key numbers of 6 and 7.

As far as potential partners, we will let you decide about who you like the best and make recommendations going through key numbers. Here are our choices to match with Buffalo. (Note: All were at current teaser lines.)

  • Browns -0.5 points
  • 49ers -3.5
  • Rams -4.5
  • Saints +8.5
  • Packers -4

New York Jets vs. Cleveland Browns

Sunday, September 18, 2022 - 01:00 PM EDT at FirstEnergy Stadium

What We Learned From Week 1

All things considered; the New York Jets were not terrible in their loss to Baltimore. Quarterback Joe Flacco threw for 295 yards and gave his team a chance. That might not be so easy to do this week even though the Ravens are considered better than Cleveland.

The Browns had Carolina beat, let them back into the game, and actually trailed before weak penalties and a rookie kicker bailed them out.

Cleveland has several good measurables. The Browns have a good running back duo with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The offensive line is Top 5 and the pass catchers are improving. The Browns’ defense is not perfect, but the front seven can collapse the pocket.

Jets vs. Browns: Pick and Prediction

With the limited mobility of Flacco, Cleveland will look to engulf him up the middle and on the perimeter.

Honestly, the only reason the Browns are not larger favorites against betting odds is QB Jacoby Brissett. Nevertheless, Gang Green is 2-9 ATS as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points.

NFL Pick: Cleveland -6.5 (-110) at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)
