While this will be the New York Giants’ third foray into London playing their version of professional football, this is the first time Green Bay has made the journey to Great Britain.

These teams last played in 2019, when the Packers went to New Jersey and handled the Giants with ease in a 31-13 rout as 6.5-point favorites.

As a side note, since this is Green Bay’s first visit, often, but not every time, a team will get a week off after the long flight.

Seeing the Pack have never had this experience, we’re curious as to how they will play, and handle the betting odds of our top-rated sportsbooks, against the New York Jets at Lambeau Field the following week.

New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers

Sunday, October 09, 2022 – 09:30 AM EDT at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Strengths of N.Y. Giants

A completely healthy Saquon Barkley makes all the difference to the Giants’ offense. He provides juice to the running game (No. 3 in NFL) which opens up the play-action passing offense for quarterback Daniel Jones. .

This is important because the G-Men offensive line is poor at pass-blocking, so any major help that can be created matters.

Barkley is also an important part of Big Blue’s pass offense and if they can get him on a linebacker in open space, he can go the distance.

The New York pass defense has been in the Top 10 in yards allowed, however, they haven’t faced a top-level quarterback either like they will this week.

Weaknesses of N.Y. Giants

As mentioned, the Giants' pass blocking has been atrocious, rated in the bottom five in sacks allowed.

No question that Jones hanging on to the ball too long has been a conundrum, yet, he’s much better this season in that area. This year it's been a function of weak blocking and receivers not getting open.

Though new coach Brian Daboll’s club has only allowed 17 points a game, they are permitting over 5.0 yards a carry. With how Green Bay commits to the run, they will have to tighten that up or another long day will be in store against the Packers.

Strengths of Green Bay

It starts with Aaron Rodgers, who is still able to perfectly place the ball to pass catchers more often than not.

Granted, the Green Bay receiving core is far from top-notch compared to years past, but Rodgers will give them the chance to make them appear better.

The foundation of the Packers' offense under Matt LaFleur is based upon running the pigskin with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon and this will have a chance to be very effective on Sunday.

Though the Green Bay defense has not locked down the opposing teams, they are still in the Top 10 defensively and will presumably get better as the season progresses.

Weaknesses of Green Bay

The Packers' run defense has allowed 126 yards or more in three of their four games, as the front three are getting blocked and linebackers are doing a dreadful job of filling holes in the A and B gaps rather consistently. With Barkley back to normal, the G-Men will attack this first.

The Green Bay special teams were arguably the worst in the NFL last season and after three games they were at least close to average. They took a step backward against New England.

What To Watch for and Expect in London

The matchup of NFC teams will have a completely different twist.

We have to admit, it is very tempting to consider New York because they can run the ball and are not allowing a lot of points.

Yet, one has to think about the difference between quarterbacks Rodgers and Daniels as playmakers. Daniels is more likely to lead his team to field goals while Rodgers generates touchdowns.

Given that, we’ll side with the Pack to win by 8 to 10 points for NFL picks to move to a 4-1 record.
