The Jaguars failed to cover the spread once again last Sunday, losing to Sean McVay’s Rams, 37-7. That loss marked their fourth straight. Rookie QB Trevor Lawrence finished with just 145 yards and had zero touchdowns, which was the fourth time over the last five games that he has failed to throw a TD pass. Running back Carlos Hyde scored the Jags' lone touchdown on a 1-yard run. He finished the day with 9 carries for 24 yards.
As for the Titans, they took the week to rest following a two-game losing streak with the losses coming against the Houston Texans and New England Patriots in the weeks prior. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been off his “A-game,” throwing 5 interceptions and only two touchdowns in both losses.
The Titans lost their primary weapon in running back Derrick Henry, who landed on the injured reserve in Week 8, and ever since, their backfield has struggled. Despite the two-game losing skid, the Titans sit at the No. 1 seed in the AFC South and will be looking for a win this Sunday to make their playoff hopes stay alive. As for the Jaguars, they are en route to another tanking season.
There could not be a better opponent for the struggling Titans to come off their bye week and face. While we’ve seen the Jags somehow beat the Bills, they are simply not a good team and maybe the NFL isn’t for Urban Meyer after all if he can’t turn things around in the next five games. But it’s not going to start this week. With home-field advantage, this will be the perfect opportunity for the Titans to get back on track and secure the No. 1 spot in the AFC South.
