The Kansas City Chiefs (2-3) are back on the road hoping to bounce back following a loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. Meanwhile, the Washington Football Team (2-3), looks to redeem itself at home after losing to the New Orleans Saints. Below, we’ll take a look at the NFL odds and the best sportsbook to bet with. Let’s get into it!

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Washington Football Team

Sunday, October 17, 2021 – 01:00 PM EDT at FedExField

The Matchup

The Chiefs entered last week as a 3-point favorite and were crushed at home 38-20 by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. Now, they´re favored by a larger margin this week. As for Washington, they were 2.5-point underdogs in Week 5 and remind the underdogs this week. According to BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), Kansas City is a 6.5-point favorite over the Footballers with the over/under at 55.5.

It’s easy to blame the defense which allowed 30 or more points for a fourth straight game and yielded 436 total yards (315 passing, 121 rushing yards). KC got off to a promising start where they led 10-7, but was soon outscored 17-3 before the half. The Chiefs failed to rally back the rest of the game and star running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire exited early with a knee injury

Silver Lining

To no surprise, Washington also lost at home, 33-22, to the Saints in Week 5. They led 13-7 early in the second quarter, but the defense gave up two scores just before the half, including a 49-yard Hail Mary, and fell behind 20-13

Second-string QB Taylor Heinicke finished the day with 248 passing yards and  0 touchdowns to his two interceptions. Despite the loss, there was some silver lining as Washington slightly outgained the Saints 373 to 369 in total offensive yards and had more first downs (26 to 18).

Prediction

Nobody, including the Chiefs themselves, would have imagined that after Week 5 they would be sitting at the bottom of the division––especially following back-to-back Super Bowl appearances.

But now, they face a Washington team that has one of the worst defenses in the league and they have to take advantage of it early. If they lose this one, Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid lose all credibility.

Kansas City’s defense isn’t too far off of Washington’s at the moment, but their offense is what will keep them in this game. Heinicke and company are most certainly going to put points on the board but they’re not going to be able to keep up.  Let's back the Chiefs to bounce back for our NFL pick.
