Goerges vs. Wozniacki

Two former WTA Auckland runner-up – Julia Goerges and Caroline Wozniacki – will fight this Friday for a place in the semi-finals.

Playing in Auckland brings the best out of Goerges with the German holding a terrific 14 – 7 career record on this event. The 2016 runner-up is for the 3rd consecutive year in the ASB Classic quarter-finals after two straight sets victories over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Naomi Broady. Looking now to Julia’s numbers on this event, the highlight clearly goes to her serve with the world no.53 winning 90.48% of her service games so far.

Wozniacki is finally back to her best level and after ending 2016 at a superb level, the former world no.1 is looking to extend the good results in 2017. Famous for her outstanding return to serve, Caroline won 73.33% of the games played on her opponents’ serve this week. After Serena and Venus elimination, Wozniacki is now the main favourite to lift the trophy in Auckland.

This will be the 9th career meeting between these two players with each of them winning four of their previous eight meetings.

Despite the balance on the h2h, Wozniacki clearly holds the edge on Hard Court with a 4 – 1 lead on this surface. With this in mind and due to Caroline’s terrific results in previous months, she deserves to be the undeniable favourite for this match. William Hill offers 3/10 for the Danish triumph while Goerges is available at 11/4 at BetVictor. Due to the low value on Wozniacki’s money line, we advise you to take her -1.5 Set Handicap at 83/100 at Pinnacle as the most valuable bet for this contest.
