William Hill to sell 48 betting shops to the Tote

The deal understood to be worth £20 million comes after the Office of Fair Trading required William Hill to offload 50 of the betting shops purchased earlier this year from Stanley Leisure.

Today\’s acquisition takes the Tote\’s betting shop estate to 535. The state-owned firm also has a presence on each of the 59 racecourses in Britain, as well as internet and telephone betting operations.
