Clear Channel Communications received a subpoena from federal prosecutors seeking information about advertisements it ran online gambling operations based offshore. A spokeswoman for Clear Channel said the company is cooperating with the subpoena.
According to gaming attorney Lawrence Walters, the Department of Justice issued several subpoenas that targeted media companies requesting all records involving internet gambling ads dating to 1997. Walters also said the DoJ sent a warning letter to major radio networks advising them of the legal risks of accepting internet gambling ads.
