Following the publication of the report into the effects of betting on sport, Betfair and the Association of British Bookmakers have commented on the recommendation made by the APBGG to all major betting operators to sign MoUs with the sports on which they base their business.
“The committee has recognised the superior ability of betting exchanges to track bets, and the information-sharing agreements which allow them to liaise with sport, which Betfair has pioneered. It has called for all betting operators to adhere to the sort of rigorously high standards that Betfair has set in these areas, and Betfair roundly endorses that fact,” Betfair declared.
The Association of British Bookmakers, representing traditional betting companies, pointed out that it already operates a formal memorandum of understanding with the Jockey Club and football authorities, while it “has arrangements agreed” with cricket, greyhound racing, rugby league and snooker.
