Kuznetsova vs. Muguruza
Looking to the matches scheduled for Sunday on the women’s competition this Sunday in Paris, the contest between the 2009 champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova, and the 2015 Wimbledon runner-up, Garbine Muguruza, clearly deserves a closer look.
After losing the first set of this event against Yaroslava Shvedova, Kuznetsova has been absolutely superb, defeating Heather Watson and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in two easy sets. Svetlana is one of the biggest clay court experts on the women’s tour and she can never be underestimated on this surface.
Muguruza also had a slow start on this event, losing the first set she played against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova but after that, two very easy victories against Myrtille Georges and Yanina Wickmayer. Garbine is known for her powerful baseline game and her numbers against Wickmayer were quite impressive – 19 winners / 11 unforced errors.
These two players will face each other for the second time on their careers, after Kuznetsova’s victory last year in Madrid in three close sets. With Kuznetsova playing at such great level, the value among Green Listed Bookmakers is clearly on her side with the Russian priced at 3/2 on Bet365 while Muguruza is offered at 57/100 on Coral.
Pironkova vs. Radwanska
One of the most interesting matches of the day counts with two players who are far from clay court experts, Tsvetana Pironkova and Agnieszka Radwanska.
Radwanska is trying to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open for the second time on her career, after losing on that stage in 2013 against Sara Errani. After disappointing losses in Stuttgart and Madrid against Laura Siegemund and Dominika Cibulkova, respectively, Agnieszka has been playing at a superb level this week, defeating two tough opponents such as Caroline Garcia and Barbora Strycova in the previous two rounds.
Pironkova is having a dream week, achieving already her best career result on this event. Tsvetana surprised Sloane Stephens in the previous round, in a match where the American was too erratic and far from her best.
Even though Pironkova’s outstanding run on this event, Radwanska should be too good for the Bulgarian and for that reason, she’s fairly priced as favourite for this contest at 1/5 on Pinnacle Sports while Pironkova can be found at 4/1 on William Hill.
