ATP Indian Wells – Del Potro vs. Djokovic
A high-quality contest is expected this Tuesday in Indian Wells with Juan Martin Del Potro and Novak Djokovic fighting for a place in the BNP Paribas Open 4th round.
After Andy Murray’s surprising defeat in the opening round, the defending champion – Novak Djokovic – is now the main favourite to win the title in Indian Wells. However, Djokovic won’t have an easy task to claim his 4th consecutive title in the Californian desert. Besides his lack of success in recent months, the bottom half of the draw is, without any doubt, one of the strongest in the ATP World Tour history.
Juan Martin Del Potro continues his successful comeback with the 2013 BNP Paribas Open runner-up starting his campaign with a 7 – 6 6 – 3 win over his fellow countryman, Federico Delbonis. As usual, Del Potro’s forehand was the key to his victory with the Argentinean firing 78.57% of his baseline winners with that shot.
These two players know each other very well with Djokovic winning 12 of their previous 16 meetings.
Despite Novak’s lead on the h2h, Del Potro is never an easy match-up with the Argentinean winning at least one set in their last six encounters. Therefore, Del Potro’s +1.5 Set Handicap at 4/5 with Pinnacle is a very interesting approach for this match. However, it’s impossible to go against Djokovic in the moneyline due to his tremendous success on this event with Pinnacle offering 41/100 for his victory while Del Potro is available at 9/4 at Bet365.
WTA Indian Wells – Keys vs. Wozniacki
Looking now at the matches scheduled for this Tuesday on the women’s tournament, the highlight clearly goes to the match between Madison Keys and Caroline Wozniacki.
As we predicted in our previous analysis, Katerina Siniakova couldn’t find an answer to Caroline Wozniacki’s baseline consistency. The conditions in Indian Wells clearly suit Caroline’s game style with the Danish holding a remarkable 30 – 9 career record on this event. Known for her incredible defensive skills, Wozniacki won 67.70% of her opponents’ service games throughout this competition.
After an outstanding campaign in 2016 with Madison Keys breaking into the top 10 for the first time in her career, things haven’t been easy for the American this season. Due to a wrist injury, Keys was forced to withdraw from the Australian Open and unable to compete until the BNP Paribas Open, where she’s making her debut in 2017. Taking a look now at Madison’s campaign on this event, the American reaches this stage of the competition after two straight sets victories over Mariana Duque Marino and Naomi Osaka.
This will be the 2nd career meeting between these two players with Wozniacki winning their previous encounter a few months ago in the US Open.
Even though Madison is always a dangerous opponent due to her tremendous firepower, it’s unlikely to see her overcoming such a great defender as Wozniacki. With this in mind, Caroline is definitely the right play on the former world no.1 available at 67/100 at 5Dimes while Pinnacle offers 7/5 for Keys’ triumph.
