The chairmen and deputy chairmen of the state\’s three racing codes to meet Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon, who is willing to give the local racing industry a last chance to talk him out of granting a license to Betfair. Thoroughbred Racing Council Chairman Geoff Harper said it was not the integrity of Betfair that was in question, but the integrity of some of the people who may bet with the company.
“You would say it would make it impossible for Tote Tasmania to operate,” he added.
In separate news, Racing NSW Chief Executive Peter V\’Landys reaffirmed his opposition to betting exchanges.
“Whatever Tasmania do we will take any necessary action to protect our revenue,” he said
