Tasmanian Thoroughbred Racing Council chairman Geoff Harper said negotiations between the State Government and Betfair, which is backed by Kerry Packer\’s media giant PBL, were about achieving a better deal for Tasmanian racing from Victoria\’s industry heavyweight TABcorp.
Mr Harper believes the Government\’s meeting with Betfair was a result of the unfair treatment of the Tasmanian racing industry by TABcorp.
“This is all about the State Government reducing the payment. We would be hoping the Victorians drop the unjust fee they are charging us and the matter will go away,” he said.
