Regional governments in Madrid and the Basque country have decided to lighten the laws on betting shops, thereby inducing Stanleybet International to reconsider its options in Spain.
“Fundamentally, we see additional regional markets as a good thing. Spain wasn’t towards the top of that list. That could change. If there was an opportunity there, we’d be interested,”Stanleybet Finance Director Adrian Morris told the LiverPool Daily Post.
Stanleybet has been at the front of industry efforts to fight restrictive gambling laws throughout Europe and recently welcomed the EC’s decison to launch infringement proceedings against Germany and Sweden.
