The online betting company owner of SwapBets will be paying EUR 6.6 million to buy 60 per cent of Vittoriosa Gaming Ltd, the company which holds the concession to operate the Casinò di Venezia.
The Director of Sportalnet is the Italian Orlando Fernandi, but the company is owned by International Trust Ltd, whose shareholders include former Nationalist MP George Hyzler, Rodney Lee Berger and lawyer Simon Tortell.
According to industry\’s sources, Sportalnet will use the trademark ‘Casinò di Venezia’ to lure people into betting online. Online betting is only permitted in a few European countries like Malta, while it is still banned in countries like Italy. This has lured a number of Italian run companies to operate from Malta
