As reported by the Racing Post, Tom Segal\’s 10 consecutive Saturday winners last summer were among the reasons for the bonus not being paid.
Allistair Elliott, an employee at William Hill\’s telebetting call centre in Leeds, has sent William Hill, on behalf of himself and his fellow staff, an open letter regretting the company\’s decision not to pay them a bonus this year and asking the management to reconsider.
“We feel this decision is perhaps unreflective of our collective work, and would ask that the decision be reconsidered. During this year of considerable change and development, we have been asked to adapt to new methods of delivering the highest possible standards expected by William Hill.”
“We believe we have delivered all that can be asked of us – and more – in William Hill\’s ongoing drive tobe the country\’s number one bookmaker. We believe we have played our part in adapting successfully to the rapid changes seen within the business and industry this year, and, for all this, we would ask that the decision be reconsidered and our bonus awarded.”
Elliott reckons the bonus could normally have been expected to amount to around £400 to call centre staff, whose pay rate is £6.14 per hour.
