Following a complaint presented by the Portuguese casino asssociation, the ICAP (Instituto Civil da Autodisciplina da Publicidade) banned the BetandWin ad campaign in Portugal.
The local casino association called the Government to take a position on the matter.
Betandwin is a parasitc (fiscally speaking) as it does not pay any tax in Portugal and the government should do their part, assuring the exclusiveness of the betting market to the casinos which pay very high tax rates, said a spokesperson for the casino association.
Elsewhere, the Belgium National Lottery decided to abandon its plan to reintroduce sports betting following the recent match-fixing scandal which involved fiv first division clubs.
