Giorgos Alogoskoufis, Greek Minister of Finance, and Giorgos Orfanos, Deputy Minister for Sport, said they support OPAP taking over the running of the fixed odds betting game Stihima, after that the contract with Intralot expires in February 2007.
Alogoskoufis also announced the introduction of Greek soccer games in Stihima starting with the new season beginning in late August.
Press reports in Greece suggest that Intralot is eyeing alternatives like internet betting and mobile betting, and that its largest shareholders may be considering selling the company because it will no longer have its largest and most profitable contract in Greece.
