Moneybookers customers had monet stolen from their accounts and transferred to a site called fpclub.ru.
For several years I\’ve heard of players claiming that they had money on their Moneybookers accounts stolen or transferred without their consent and knowledge, but until recently I had never met any of the unlucky MB customers personally.
Now a friend of mine was the victim of a similar fraud and while I was investigating the fact I found that several Italian customers had funds transferred illegaly to a site called fpclub.ru.
Moneybookers initially ignored the players requests for assistance and only after some of them contacted the Institute for the Foreign Commerce, Moneybookers eventually agreed to partial reimbursements.
While it remains unclear how the partial reimbursements were calculated, I asked Moneybookets top management for their version of the story and the only answer I got was that they were working to solve the case. No mention of how the fraudster got access to several players accounts.
If I had to risk my own theory, I would probably bet this was an inside job. It would definitely explain the total lack of communication from Moneybookers and their attitude towards the case.
Moneybookers is regulated by the Financial Service Authority, which clearly states that when there is a dispute over who is at fault if money is stolen from an account, there is a valid reason for a complaint.
If you had funds transferred from your Moneybookers account without your consent, visit the fsa.gov.uk site for more information about submitting a complaint.
