The illegal boookie was accepting online bets of up to RM10m a day from European bettors on a a variety of leagues, including the English Premiership, the Italian Serie A and the Spanish La Liga.
The 26-year-old bookie, which obtained the online betting expertise while working as a runner for an illegal betting syndicate in the Philippines, communicated with his customers via email, while payments were made via online banking, said a police spokesman during a press conference.
In separate news, the Vietnam News Agency has announced that the Ministry of Finance is currently drafting a law to legalize sports betting in the country.
