Of course they may not find themselves up against the very best that Liverpool has to offer, Jurgen Klopp may well take the opportunity to rest a few players in this one. Even the Liverpool reserves should have enough about them to see Liverpool progress to the fourth round and many of the players who have been out on the fringes will be happy to see some game time.
As you can imagine trying to find any kind of value in this game is difficult. Despite Plymouth’s healthy goal difference much of that is down to their solid defence rather than any killer instinct in front of goal so going down the Asian Handicap route seems a risky enterprise to me. A lot will depend on who actually does get the nod from Jurgen Klopp to start this match and with the likes of Divock Origi waiting for a chance there is still the chance a very good team could be put out, even without some of the more established stars.
I’m expecting a Liverpool win, just like the bookies, but I’m not prepared to go as low as the bookies want me to. Pinnacle have the best odds on the market right now for a home win but at 1.19 I’m not even slightly tempted to go for it. Just as with the Asian Handicap markets among our green listed books, I think the Over/Under options are also risky. Over 2.5 is at around 1.42 for instance and although there are much better odds on the Underside of the bet I don’t think it’s an area I could confidently delve into at this point.
So I’m holding onto my money right now and waiting to see who is selected for the match. If there’s a rotated side then perhaps the home odds will go up, if not then I might have to wait to get matched in play for any reasonable odds.
The one area I am tempted to put some money on is the Both Teams To Score market. At 1.65 with BetVictor for “No, ” I think there is a little value there. I also think there is some more wiggle room in this area and if the odds get up to or above 1.7 then I’ll be dipping my toe in that market.
This lunchtime kick-off is one of those that will catch the eye, hopefully, it provides a few good betting opportunities at the same time.
