Runaway Premier League leaders Man City travel to the King Power on Saturday to face a resurgent Leicester City in what promises to be the most exciting game of the weekend. City have banged in a remarkable 38 goals in 11 league games so far this season and look dangerous whenever they are in possession. Leicester are not the sort of team that will be content to sit back and soak up pressure as they always take risks and commit men forwards, so this should prove to be an open and exhilarating game, full of goals.
City’s form is so strong that they are now as low as 1/9 with some green listed bookmakers to win the Premiership this season. The best price available is 2/11 with 10Bet, but the odds being offered across the board are seriously low considering we are only in November and have played just 11 games. However, it reflects City’s magnificent form. They have been blowing teams away and remain unbeaten, with some tipping them to go on and emulate Arsenal’s 2004 Invincibles season.
Pep Guardiola’s men are attacking with pace, invention and artistry and it is a joy to behold. Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva have adapted to their deeper roles with aplomb and they have been running games thanks to their metronomic and incisive passing, their superior reading of the game and their fleet footwork. Fernandinho does the dirty work and allows them to get on with terrorising defences and creating huge amounts of chances for Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva to latch onto. Guardiola is blessed with plenty of attacking options so he has been able to keep his troops fresh for battles on different fronts this season and City are reaping the rewards. Whichever three of the aforementioned quintet start against Leicester, you can be assured that they will blend lethal finishing with intelligent movement and great pace.
It is a frightening prospect for a Leicester defence that has already leaked 16 goals this season. The Foxes have already parted company with Craig Shakespeare thanks to their woeful form, but new boss Claude Puel has sparked a revival. Leicester now come into the game unbeaten in five games in all competitions and they have scored 10 times during that period. Jamie Vardy is on fire once again, while Riyad Mahrez and Demarai Gray have been dangerous.
Leicester concede a fair amount of goals and are likely to yield at least two on Saturday as City have scored 3.45 goals per game this season and have blown away stronger defences than the Foxes’. But they will fancy their chances of getting on the score sheet too. City have solidified defensively this season and shipped just seven goals in 11 games, as Guardiola has helped John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi improve leaps and bounds, but City have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last three matches and Vardy can beat their centre-backs for pace.
It all points to a high-scoring, entertaining game. Man City really should win it as they have won 10 out of 11 league games this season and the only time they failed to win was back in August, a 1-1 draw with Everton in which they had a man sent off in the first half. The odds are not hugely attractive on a City win: the best price available is 4/11 with William Hill and others. That is good if you are a high roller, but if you want more value you can get 5/6 with Sky Bet on Man City to win and over 2.5 goals in the match. That looks a great bet, but if you want to push it further, Sky Bet has 7/4 on Man City and over 3.5 goals.
