The Dutch Supreme Court confirmed a ruling that no gambling provider may offer services to Dutch residents without a Dutch license. The Supreme Court found that the Netherlands’ restrictive gambling policies are in conformity with European law, rejecting Ladbrokes\’ plea that the gambling monopoly enjoyed by De Lotto in the Netherlands violates the free movement of services throughout Europe. The UK bookmaker has been ordered to implement geolocation systems and other measures to insure that its website cannot be accessed by Dutch residents.
