According to The Sunday Telegraph, the headlines following the BetonSports debacle in the US have distracted investors from the solid performance of William Hill. The bookmaker announced last week first half pre-tax profits 12 per cent ahead of forecasts.

Analysts believe that William hill, which trades at a slight discount to Ladbrokes, could attract private equity investors looking for a highly cash generative business able to sustain a high debt burden.

Elsewhere, Greek betting operator Intralot has been included by the Morgan Stanley’s Strategy team on a report covering its top-50 picks amongst European stocks.

Betfair has appointed Flourish Direct Marketing to increase its customer base. The Bristol-based agency will work across a range of media, including online and direct mail, to recruit new customers and cross-sell to existing customers. “We will be working with Flourish to develop communications that reinforce Betfair\’s points of difference: better choice, value and control,” commented Peter Janes, Betfair\’s CRM Director.
