The Independent Arbitration Service has been asked for a ruling, following last week\’s controversial decision by Betfair to void all bets on the tournament won by Adam Scott.
Betfair referred to \’abandonment\’ and made their decision on the basis that the result did not enjoy official status from the US PGA.
However, the Nissan Open was not abandoned, but merely shortened.
Bookmakers are generally well aware of the possibility of shortened events, and usually make it clear that they pay out on tournament winners, rather than \’official\’ winners.
