BetGenius, an odds-comparison service powering bestbetting.com and other similar sites, acquired Connextra, a provider of marketing tools for online advertisers, for £1.74 million.
“With 85 per cent of Connextra\’s clients being in the gambling industry, there are substantial opportunities for us to provide a wider range of services to bookmakers, and develop innovative new products for the industry,” commented Michael Hornung, Chairman of BetGenius.
Betfair is to launch a new facility enabling customers to bet in running by clicking on a horse. The service will use virtual-type graphics and through the Turftrax tracking system will cover horse races from start to finish, displaying price changes and matched and unmatched bets.
Finsoft, a software provider for online bookmakers such as Paddy Power and Stan James, has signed a partnership with SIS, the pictures and information provider for betting shops, to offer a new service described as “a one-stop shop for the technology and management requirements of independent bookmakers.”
The service, which comprises Finsoft EPOS system and the iSIS display and sports data system, will be delivered by SIS at a fixed monthly charge.
In separate news, SIS started trials for a new betting-shop TV channel, SIS+, but it will have to assess the level of interest and the ability to secure a regular supply of virtual product before deciding when, or whether, to go ahead with the service.
